💙 Unite to Turn the Tide.​ Today, July 25, ​is World Drowning Prevention Day, ​and we're joining communities around the world in raising awareness that drowning is preventable.

This year's campaign from the World Health Organization reminds us that every action matters—from learning to swim and practicing water safety to actively supervising children near water. Together, we can help save lives.

This global celebration aims to change the way people think about and define disability, and promotes the belief that disability is a natural and beautiful part of human diversity in which all people living with a disability can take pride.

Did you know Father’s Day was founded at the YMCA? In 1910, Sonora Smart Dodd held the very first Father’s Day celebration at the Spokane YMCA to honor her dad - a single father who raised six children. Her love for her father sparked a national tradition that we still celebrate today!

Today, we continue to celebrate and support fathers, father figures and families of all kinds - building strong communities together. , from our Y family to yours!
