🌲 **More Than a Token** 🌲

To some, these may look like simple wooden tokens.

But in recovery, a token can mean everything.

It marks a moment of courage, and the day someone chose to show up.

It represents hope on difficult days, progress when the path feels uncertain, and a reminder that no one has to walk this journey alone.

At EcoRECOVERY, these tokens will be given to newcomers attending our events as a symbol of belonging, growth, and the healing power of community and nature.

They are small enough to fit in a pocket, yet powerful enough to carry a story of resilience and belonging.

Every recovery journey begins with a single step. Sometimes, having a tangible reminder of that step can make all the difference.

What happens when organizations from two countries come together with a shared vision for healing?

This week, EcoRECOVERY (USA) and The Praxium Learning Foundation (Canada) joined forces to explore how community-based, nature-centered programs can help address the trauma at the root of so many physical and mental health challenges.

Because healing doesn't happen in isolation. It happens through connection to ourselves, to nature, and to community.

When we help one just one person heal, we strengthen the health of entire communities.

Together, we're building a future where healing from trauma transcends barriers, borders, cultures, and generations.

Does your organization have this shared vision? Shoot us a DM so we can connect.

Stay tuned for updates!

Honoring all who served

Positive self-talk isn't just a feel-good practice, it's often the lifeline to sustained change and recovery. Let's face it, we all have bad days. Sometimes we have bad weeks. Sometimes even bad months, or even longer seasons that test everything we think we know about ourselves.

What matters isn't avoiding those difficult times; it's how we carry ourselves through them.

What we tell ourselves matters more than many you might realize. It's neuroscience.

Thanks to the science of neuroplasticity, we now know that our brains are constantly adapting and changing. The thoughts we repeat create and strengthen neural pathways. Over time, those pathways influence how we see ourselves, how we respond to challenges, and what we believe is possible.

This doesn't mean positive thinking magically fixes everything, but it does mean that practicing compassionate, hopeful self-talk can literally help reshape the way our brains process the world.

I have to really lean into this practice, sometimes more than others.

You see lately, I've been struggling with health challenges and some heavy, and difficult emotions. And days like today when things have felt oppressively heavy.

But I know one thing with certainty: a substance is not the solution. Recovery isn't about never facing hardship—it's about learning to face hardship differently.

Today, I stood in this field of wildflowers looking at this tree. I found myself wondering about all this tree has endured. Storms. Drought. Wildfire seasons. Yet it still stands tall, roots planted deep, continuing to reach for the sun.

Maybe that's the lesson. We don't have to be untouched by struggle to keep growing.

We just have to keep reaching.

So if you're in a difficult season, be mindful of the voice in your head. Speak to yourself with the same compassion you would offer someone you love.

Keep going...
One step...
One day...
One choice at a time.

The sun is still there, even when the clouds make it hard to see. 🌿☀️

🌿 We Are Growing!
Help Us Bring Healing Outdoors 🌿

At EcoRECOVERY, we believe recovery is about more than sobriety — it’s about reconnecting to purpose, community, and self. Through guided nature immersion experiences, we empower individuals with lived experience of addiction to build resilience, restore confidence, and rediscover peace in the natural world.

Research continues to show that time spent in nature can reduce stress, anxiety, depression, and isolation, challenges many people in recovery face every day. Fresh air, movement, mindfulness, and meaningful connection outdoors can become powerful tools for healing and long-term recovery.

But access matters.

Many individuals entering recovery do not have the gear, transportation, or support needed to safely participate in outdoor experiences. That’s why EcoRECOVERY is committed to being a no-barrier, trauma-informed program that creates inclusive, guided nature sessions for people of most abilities and backgrounds. From proper outdoor equipment and accessibility support to compassionate peer connection, we work to ensure everyone has the opportunity to experience the healing power of nature.
