Quest for Hope Counseling

Quest for Hope Counseling Professional faith-based counseling in Western MD, serving individuals, couples, and families. Hello!

My name is Nate Maust and I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor in the state of Maryland. If you are reading this, there is a good chance that you are working through something that may feel too big to handle on your own. Counseling may seem like a big commitment and it's not uncommon to have reservations about it. I've had the honor of walking alongside individuals with varied experiences and obstacles. My hope is that each client I work with experiences respect, grace, and healing through the counseling experience. I aim to provide a judgment-free and supportive experience for individuals, couples, and families through this process.

My experience is varied through different settings. I've provided counseling through a church, in jail, in a residential setting, and now through private practice. A majority of my experience is with substance use counseling but have helped people work through different mental health struggles, marital conflicts, and family changes.

Dan Allender once wrote, β€œThe work of restoration cannot begin until a problem is fully faced.” Facing problems is often not fun and can be quite frankly scary but it is necessary in order to experience restoration and health. Please reach out to me if you don't want to face these problems on your own. List of reasons people come to counseling:

Today we want to say thank you to our intern, Hannah Frazee, as she wraps up her time with Quest for Hope Counseling.

Hannah joined us this summer through the Liberty University Psychology Program, and it has been a joy to provide a learning experience as an intern. Her willingness to learn, compassionate spirit, and heart for serving others have been a blessing to our staff and those around her.

πŸ“£ COMING SOON πŸ“£

Meet Shani Tyson!

We are excited to welcome Shani Tyson this fall to Quest for Hope Counseling as our graduate counseling intern for the coming year!

Shani is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Frostburg State University and already holds a Master’s degree in Positive Psychology from Life University.

As part of her graduate training, Shani will take on her own clients and provide counseling services under the clinical supervision of Nate Maust, LCPC, while completing her internship.

To help make counseling more accessible, clients may choose what they can afford to pay for each of Shani’s sessions. While there is no required fee, the suggested contribution is $35 per session.

Shani is passionate about helping people discover hope, resilience, and meaningful change, and we are thrilled to have her join the Quest for Hope team.

If you or someone you know has been considering counseling, this is a wonderful opportunity to receive quality care at a price that fits your budget.

πŸ“ž Contact Quest for Hope Counseling to get on Shani’s client list for when she starts her internship!

Our story: Quest for Hope Counseling was never part of a career goalβ€”it began with a burden.

While serving as a counselor in a local correctional facility, our founder, Nate Maust, witnessed firsthand the deep emotional and spiritual struggles people face. During that time, local primary care providers began expressing a growing concern: there was a significant need for professional counseling rooted in Biblical truth, yet very few options existed in our community.

What started as conversations with local physicians became a season of prayer and discernment. Through God’s leading, Nate felt called to step out of the jail setting in faith and establish Quest for Hope Counseling.

On January 3, 2023, we welcomed our very first client.

Since then, God has faithfully provided every step of the journey. What began as a single counselor has grown into a team of five providers serving individuals, couples, and families throughout the tristate area.

While much has changed, our mission has remained the same: to honor God by demonstrating His grace and compassion through quality clinical care, integrating professional counseling with Biblical Christianity, and walking alongside each person on their quest for hope and healing.

We are grateful for how where God has led us, and we look forward with expectancy to how He will continue to use Quest for Hope Counseling to serve our community.

We are also looking forward to some exciting announcements in the next weeks and months.

We believe access to mental health care matters.

At Quest for Hope Counseling, we’ve worked hard to become in-network with many insurance companies so that more individuals and families can use their behavioral health benefits. However, we recognize that insurance isn’t always availableβ€”or doesn’t always make counseling affordable.

While we can’t offer reduced fees to everyone, we’re committed to helping eligible clients access counseling through our Sliding Fee Scale, which is based on household income and household size using the current Federal Poverty Guidelines, when available.

If you’re uninsured, underinsured, have a high deductible, or are experiencing financial hardship, you may qualify for a reduced self-pay rate.

If you think you may be eligible, we’d be happy to answer your questions and walk you through the application process.

πŸ’² WHAT WILL COUNSELING COST ME?

One of the most common questions we receive is, β€œHow much will counseling cost?”

The answer depends on whether you use insurance benefits or choose to pay privately.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ₯ USING INSURANCE

Quest for Hope Counseling is in-network with many insurance plans. When we are contracted with your insurance company, we agree to accept a negotiated (contracted) rate for counseling services.

Depending on your plan, you may be responsible for a deductible, copay, or coinsurance. We encourage you to contact your insurance company prior to counseling to understand what they’d want you to pay.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“‹ WHAT IS A DEDUCTIBLE?

A deductible is the amount you must pay out of pocket before your insurance company begins sharing in the cost of services.

Example:
If your deductible is $2,000 and you have not met it yet, you may pay the full contracted rate for counseling sessions until that deductible is satisfied.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ’³ WHAT IS A COPAY?

A copay is a fixed amount you pay for each counseling session.

Example:
If your copay is $25, you pay $25 for each session and your insurance company pays the remaining covered amount.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

πŸ“Š WHAT IS COINSURANCE?

Coinsurance is a percentage of the contracted rate that you pay after your deductible has been met.

Example:
If the contracted rate is $100 and your coinsurance is 20%, you would pay $20 and your insurance company would pay $80.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

🀝 PRIVATE PAY & SLIDING FEE OPTIONS

For clients who do not use insurance, Quest for Hope Counseling offers a limited sliding fee program.

Our sliding fee scale helps make counseling more affordable by adjusting fees based on household income and financial circumstances. Eligibility is determined through an application process.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
