We talk a lot about training, recovery, nutrition, and injury prevention. Mental health belongs in that conversation, too. Athletes are whole people, and caring for their mental health can be part of caring for their overall health.

Therapy shouldn’t feel like one more impossible thing to fit into your week. The right support should work with your actual life. Your schedule, your needs, and what helps you feel comfortable enough to keep showing up. That might mean finding a therapist you click with, choosing telehealth or in-person appointments, or making an adjustment when something isn’t working for you. Getting support can already feel like a big step. The process around it doesn’t need to make it harder.

Not every day needs to be optimized. Some days, answering one email is enough. Making something to eat is enough. Canceling the nonessential thing and getting into bed early is enough. Your worth is not measured by how much you crossed off a list today. If you’re running on empty, doing the bare minimum might actually be what you need. And yes, that still counts.

A bad game doesn’t have to become a bigger story about who a kid is or what they’re capable of. They can miss the shot, strike out, have an off day, and still be the same kid who loves their sport. Sometimes the best post-game support is less analysis and more: “I loved watching you play.”

Mental health support shouldn't feel out of reach. Yet many people in BIPOC communities face barriers that can make getting help harder-from cost concerns and long waitlists to language differences and difficulty finding a therapist who understands their lived experience. Real accessibility means more than having appointments available. It means making support easier to start, easier to continue, and easier to feel safe in. Every community deserves mental health care that feels welcoming, culturally responsive, and built for real life.

June may be over, but the need for support, acceptance, safety, and community doesn't end when the calendar flips to July. Pride isn't limited to one month. It's showing up as yourself. It's finding people who see you. It's asking for support when you need it. It's knowing you deserve care, exactly as you are. Today and every month after.

Social media can make it seem like everyone is squeezing every possible drop out of summer. Meanwhile, real life might look like working, doing laundry, sitting in traffic, canceling plans, or trying to remember if you've drank any water today. The version of summer you see online is usually the highlight reel. Your summer doesn't need to be packed, picture-perfect, or productive to count.
