Team Feature Friday: Arabelle Walik

Born and raised right here in Nevada County, growing up in a home that revolved around dogs, livestock, 4-H, and FFA, Arabelle has been an animal lover from a very early age. She grew up helping her parents breed and train English Springer Spaniels for field work, while also raising and showing horses, dairy goats, chickens, and market hogs. After raising a Guide Dog for the Blind through FFA, she expanded her experience further by working with a canine behaviorist, specializing in handling and rehabilitating aggressive and registered potentially dangerous dogs.

Arabelle found her way to Sirius Canine in 2018 and for the last 8 years has excelled in every aspect of the role since. Under Bridgett’s mentorship, she has continued to grow professionally and is now managing office operations, as vice president and co-owner of the Sirius corporation. She and Bridgett love to brainstorm new ways to improve and new reproductive technology to bring in, even going so far as to assist scientists in Spain with developing a new AI semen evaluation robot that is not yet in the canine market. Over the years, she has become a master of the transcervical insemination technique; one she has gone on to teach to many who have joined the team after her. In addition to her other responsibilities, she has spent the past six years working alongside Bridgett in the export department, overseeing the European countries within Sirius’s export operations.

Arabelle is currently pursuing her Registered Veterinary Technician license, with plans to specialize in Veterinary Reproduction and become NAVTA certified in Theriogenology. She is dedicated to making every process as smooth and straightforward as possible for Sirius clients. She finds great joy in meeting the wide variety of dogs that come through the door and playing a role in improving so many breeds. She takes great pride in helping so many breeders obtain their breeding goals. She is especially passionate about tackling challenging reproductive cases and helping clients achieve outcomes that once seemed impossible.

Outside of work, Arabelle enjoys gardening, preparing her Arabian Neko for future LD endurance rides, and exploring the outdoors with her husband, her daughter, her Golden Retriever Scorpio, and her English Springer Spaniel Tater Tot.

Exciting Update & Delayed Responses June 9th

Please note that on Tuesday, June 9, we will be installing new semen evaluation equipment and participating in an all-day training from our Minitube technician. We are excited to bring this advanced technology to our reproductive services program and look forward to the enhanced capabilities it will provide for our clients and patients.

Because our team will be involved in installation and training throughout the day, responses to phone calls and emails may be slower than usual. We appreciate your patience as we complete this exciting upgrade and invest in providing the highest quality reproductive services possible.

Thank you for your continued trust in our team. We look forward to putting this new technology to work for you.

P.S. please enjoy these two puppy visitors who stopped by to say hello on their way to their new homes today ❤️

Team Feature Friday: Rebecca Hahn, DVM

Dr. Hahn has been a dedicated preservation breeder of Entlebucher Mountain Dogs for 30 years. After graduating from Purdue University Veterinary School in 1982, Dr. Hahn and her husband, Dr. Jay Schuff, relocated to Grass Valley to practice veterinary medicine, eventually opening Brunswick Veterinary Clinic together. It was there that she and Bridgett began working together in 2000. Bridgett helped them expand their clinic’s expertise, where Sirius and Brunswick Vet worked collaboratively to offer reproductive services to their clients.

Following the sale of Brunswick Vet Clinic, Dr. Hahn has devoted herself fully to both her breeding program and competition across a wide range of canine venues outside of her time here at Sirius.

As both a reproductive veterinarian and an active dog breeder, Dr. Hahn brings a unique level of insight, dedication, and firsthand understanding to every breeding program. Her experience extends beyond medicine, giving her a personal appreciation for the commitment, challenges, and goals that breeders face. This perspective allows her to provide thoughtful guidance and individualized care while remaining genuinely invested in helping clients achieve the best possible outcomes for their breeding programs.

The accomplishments of Dr. Hahn's dogs speak for themselves including an AKC Best in Show, an AKC Reserve Best in Show, multiple Best of Breed at Westminster, and the first and only Entlebucher to win Variety Group – BEST IN SHOW!

In her free time, Dr. Hahn enjoys competing with her dogs of course, traveling with her husband, and judging Canine Freestyle for Dogs Can Dance. She is also the Scent Work Chair for our local club, the Gold Country Kennel Club. She is currently working on 5th Trial for the club.
