🚨🚨 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT FROM KANSAS CPR TRAINING 🚨🚨
The day has finally arrived!
For months, we have been teasing that something BIG was coming. Behind the scenes, we have spent countless hours attending specialized training, developing curriculum, creating training manuals, building partnerships, and working with industry experts to bring a brand-new service to Kansas.
Today, we are proud to officially announce that Kansas CPR Training is expanding our services and now offers:
✅ Safety Assessment & Consulting
✅ AVIRT – Active Violent Immediate Response Training
This has been one of the most exciting projects in our company's history, and the response has already exceeded our expectations. Before officially launching, we have already developed a waiting list and received interest from churches, daycares, schools, businesses, restaurants, community organizations, and other facilities throughout Kansas.
While AVIRT was originally developed to help churches improve their safety and emergency preparedness, we quickly discovered that organizations across Kansas are looking for practical training to help keep their employees, customers, members, and visitors safe.
So, what is AVIRT?
AVIRT stands for Active Violent Immediate Response Training.
This comprehensive program is designed to help organizations prepare for active shooters, violent intruders, bomb threats, suspicious persons, workplace violence, and other critical incidents. Participants receive practical, real-world training that can help save lives during the critical minutes before first responders arrive.
One question we have already been asked is whether this training is only for armed individuals or people willing to physically confront an attacker.
The answer is absolutely not.
AVIRT is designed for everyone. Whether you are a teacher, daycare provider, church volunteer, office employee, healthcare professional, manager, business owner, or community leader, this training provides practical options for survival.
Participants learn how to recognize danger, make rapid decisions, protect others, escape when possible, secure themselves and others, provide lifesaving care to the injured, and survive a violent event. While the training discusses last-resort defensive options if escape is impossible, the primary focus is always on survival, protecting others, and increasing the likelihood of making it home safely.
Why is this training important?
The statistics are sobering.
According to data from the FBI, Gun Violence Archive, OSHA, SHRM, and the National Safety Council, active violence and workplace violence continue to impact communities of every size across America.
In 2025 alone, there were 408 mass shooting incidents resulting in 2,201 casualties. Of those casualties, 1,843 people were injured and 358 lost their lives.
These numbers serve as a reminder that violent incidents are not limited to large cities. They can happen anywhere, including small towns and rural communities.
Many people believe, "That could never happen here."
Unfortunately, we know emergencies can occur when we least expect them. Right here in Great Bend, we have witnessed serious incidents that remind us no community is immune from violence or emergencies.
Through AVIRT training, participants will learn how to:
✔️ Understand active violent response procedures
✔️ Recognize warning signs of a potential aggressor
✔️ Respond quickly during a violent or emergency situation
✔️ Learn practical escape, evasion, and survival techniques
✔️ Understand last-resort defensive options when no safe escape exists
✔️ Apply life-saving bleeding control techniques
✔️ Gain the confidence needed to respond effectively under pressure
The reality is that after a severe injury, a person can bleed to death in as little as three minutes.
Average EMS response times are often between three and five minutes. Even after emergency personnel arrive, medical responders frequently cannot enter a building until law enforcement has determined the scene is safe.
The first few minutes belong to those already on scene.
Additional statistics from the FBI, Gun Violence Archive, OSHA, SHRM, and the National Safety Council indicate:
• OSHA estimates more than 2 million people are affected by workplace violence each year.
• Nearly 1 in 7 employees report feeling unsafe at work.
• 48% of HR professionals report their organization has experienced some form of workplace violence.
• More than 60% of active shooter incidents are over before law enforcement arrives.
In addition to AVIRT, Kansas CPR Training now offers Safety Assessment & Consulting Services.
These services include facility assessments, safety audits, preparedness reviews, customized recommendations, and a comprehensive Emergency Action Plan and Training Manual designed specifically for your church, daycare, school, business, or organization.
For childcare providers, we are actively working to ensure this training aligns with Kansas childcare licensing requirements and are pursuing approval opportunities through CAPE, Kansas Child Care Training Opportunities (KCCTO), KDCF, KDHE, the Kansas State Department of Education, and Child Care Aware of Kansas.
As part of our commitment to providing the highest-quality training possible, we are also hopeful to meet with representatives from the Great Bend Police Department and the Barton County Sheriff's Office to gain additional insight and recommendations that can help strengthen this program even further.
A special thank you goes to Marketing Maven and their outstanding team. They have been instrumental in helping us bring this vision to life by assisting with brochures, letters, marketing materials, training manuals, website enhancements, and an exciting new AVIRT information page complete with a video overview of the program.
This is only the beginning.
Over the coming weeks, watch for additional information through the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, Great Bend Tribune, Great Bend Post, social media, and local radio advertisements.
If your church, daycare, school, business, restaurant, or organization would like more information about AVIRT or our Safety Assessment & Consulting Services, we would love the opportunity to visit with you.
