As we wrap up Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Janet Schneider’s story reminds us how much support matters throughout a cancer diagnosis. 💗

When Janet lost her hair during chemotherapy, a wig helped her feel more like herself. Thanks to generous donors to the Benefis Foundation’s Circle of Hope Fund, she learned it was paid for — giving her one less thing to worry about.
The fund helps cancer patients with wigs, prosthetics, fittings, and other support for the side effects of cancer.

to Kimberly “Kim” Ciafardone, a nurse educator in Benefis Organizational Development, on receiving a LifeSaver Award from LifeCenter Northwest , our organ donation partner!
Chosen monthly from more than 200 hospitals across four states, the award recognizes people who make a meaningful difference in donation and the lives of others. Kim helps incoming staff understand the donation process, sharing personal experiences and showing how teamwork can make a lasting difference for donors, recipients, and their families.
“We are grateful to have a great education coordinator and donation champion in Kim at Benefis Health System!” said Lindsey Larrivee, hospital development program manager with LifeCenter Northwest.
Kim, who was surprised with the award at Monday’s department staff meeting, has her own connection to donation through a donor ACL in her left knee.
Thank you, Kim, for educating, encouraging, and inspiring others to make a difference!

Welcome Laura Seaman, FNP-C. Laura is a family nurse practitioner who cares for patients with cardiac conditions in both inpatient and outpatient settings. She focuses on the identification, prevention, and treatment of cardiac disease.

Laura’s medical career began with roles in primary care and emergency settings, and that experience cemented the importance of caring for the whole person. She also prioritizes shared decision-making, explaining the treatment process from start to finish. “If a patient has an understanding of the ‘how’ and ‘why’ behind a treatment plan, then they will truly have buy-in,” Laura says.

In her free time, Laura has a busy family life with her husband and their four children. They enjoy many outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, kayaking, and playing multiple sports.

Some familiar faces stopped by Sletten Cancer Institute yesterday!

The Great Falls Americans Hockey mascot and team members were rocking the special-edition pink jersey for the Think Pink for the Girls games on Friday and Saturday!

Both games start at 7 p.m. at the Great Falls Ice Plex.

For every ticket sold, the Great Falls Americans will donate $1 to Think Pink for the Girls! Let’s light the lamp for a great cause!

We recently had the opportunity to speak with Morningside Elementary students and EMS professionals in Helena. One of our favorite things about Mercy Flight is getting to educate the community about what we do and how important having an air transport program is to our region!

⚠️Visitor Restrictions Update⚠️

We are now allowing one visitor or care partner at a time per patient. Visitors must wear a mask at all times. Those visiting inpatient units are encouraged to eat in the patient’s room. The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is allowing two parents at a time.

COVID-19-positive patients cannot have visitors.
