Favorite set of slides from a recent course we taught, discussing nerve preservation and reconstruction during mastectomy. The goal is to maintain sensation and avoid pain.

A thoughtful team approach typically renders favorable outcomes. A delicate mastectomy with attention to nuances can help preserve nerves that don’t have to be severed, and leave the cut ones ready to be repaired. A lesser delicate approach makes it a harder fix.
