During a recent UNC Bears Volleyball game, fans participated in a fun-filled bear toss. The result? A mountain of stuffed animals ready to bring smiles to some very special kids in our hospitals. Members of the Student-Athlete Advocacy Council recently visited Banner North Colorado Medical Center Pediatric Unit to personally deliver those cuddly companions to our youngest patients.

This kind of community partnership reminds us why we love what we do. A huge thank you to Northern Colorado Athletics for making our pediatric unit a little brighter and a lot more fun!

Taking care of yourself isn't just about physical health. Making time to check in with yourself, talk with someone you trust and seek support when you need it can be an important part of your overall well-being.

If you're struggling, you don't have to figure everything out on your own. Consider talking with your primary care provider about what you're experiencing and what resources may be available to you.

This World Mental Health Day, let's make space for conversations about mental health and remind ourselves that asking for help is a sign of strength.

Our orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Hunter Aronson, recently sat down with 1310 KFKA and gave our community a chance to get to know the person behind the physician, sharing his expertise, his passion for patient care and a little bit about who he is. He also walked listeners through the many treatment options available to patients before surgery, highlighting that there are often more paths to relief than people realize. That kind of insight and transparency is what builds trust between physicians and the communities they serve.

We are truly fortunate to have dedicated physicians like Dr. Aronson on our team, committed to both excellent care and building meaningful relationships with the people we serve.

We’re proud to celebrate a meaningful recognition for both North Colorado Medical Center and Banner Fort Collins Medical Center! 💙

Both hospitals have been honored with the 2026 Colorado Hospital Breastfeeding Excellence Award by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment.

The award was presented during the 2026 Colorado Hospital Lactation Collaborative Annual Workshop on Sept. 16 and recognizes Colorado hospitals that have implemented at least two of the Baby-Friendly Hospital Initiative’s Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding. NCMC was acknowledged with a Platinum award for having hospital policies that support eight of the ten steps, while BFCMC was awarded a Gold award for having six of the ten steps in place.

This recognition highlights Banner Health's commitment to supporting mothers, babies and families through evidence-based infant feeding practices and compassionate care.

Congratulations to our NCMC and BFCMC teams on this well-deserved honor! 👏

🫁 October is Healthy Lung Month. A great time to learn more about your lung health and the care available when you need a little extra support.

So, what does a respiratory therapist do?
Respiratory therapists are health care professionals who specialize in caring for the lungs and respiratory system. They may help patients who are experiencing breathing difficulties or managing respiratory conditions, and they can provide treatments and support to help improve breathing.

You may need respiratory therapy if you’re experiencing shortness of breath, difficulty breathing or other respiratory concerns, or if your health care team recommends respiratory care as part of your treatment.

Across our hospitals, respiratory therapy teams are here to help patients breathe easier and receive the care they need, close to home.

If you have concerns about your breathing or lung health, talk with your health care provider about whether respiratory care may be right for you. Schedule an appointment today: www.bannerhealth.com/physician-directory.

Take a deep breath. Take care of your lungs.
