This is Ava Minzlaff. Ava is currently a student at Ashwaubenon High School, she is currently working with Emplify Health as a Patient Admissions Representative with Patient Registration. Here is what she had to say about her role as a YA student.

“My youth apprenticeship as a Patent Admissions at Emplify health has a significant impact on myself and my future career goals. Through this experience, I developed strong communication, organization, and professionalism while working in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Interacting with patients, families and healthcare professionals showed me the importance of compassion, teamwork, and attention to detail in providing quality patient care. This position also strengthened my passion for working in the medical field, especially with children and families, and confirmed my desire to pursue a career in healthcare. The skills and confidence I gained through this opportunity have prepared me for my future goals. I plan on becoming a CRNA who specializes in children and YA has made this goal seem achievable.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity the Youth Apprenticeship program has given me while still being able to play the sports I love and participate in all my school activities. I am thankful every day for my leader and the role I get to have at Emplify.”

A lab appointment. A vaccine. An MRI. For a lot of kids, those words alone are enough to spike anxiety before the visit even starts.

Emplify Health by Bellin has Child Life Specialists on the care team specifically for that. These trained specialists work with children and families before and during medical appointments, helping young patients understand what to expect, develop coping strategies and feel more at ease in a healthcare setting. Support is available for everything from vaccine visits and allergy testing to surgery preparation and family cancer diagnoses.

Child Life Services are free of charge and are not billed. Families may already see a Child Life appointment on their child's MyChart account. In-person services are available at the Children and Adolescent Center, and patients do not need to be an established patient there to access them. A parent or guardian can request a referral to Child Life from any clinic, or call the Children and Adolescent Center directly to get started.

Emplify Health by Bellin is home to one of the first NICUs in Wisconsin to use a model called Family Integrated Care, and one of only a handful in the nation.

The model allows moms and babies to share the same space for the duration of their hospital stay, keeping families together during what can be a difficult time. The unit is designed around that idea, with private rooms, a family lounge, an outdoor patio, and access to Children's Wisconsin specialists through telemedicine, all without families needing to travel.

Maggie Peterson, NICU nurse practice specialist, sat down with local news to talk about what makes this unit different and what families can expect.

The skills built through military service — precision, resilience and a commitment to caring for others — make veterans exceptional healthcare professionals.

Yesterday, Emplify Health by Bellin joined Brown County Government, Aurora BayCare Medical Center and Heroes for Healthcare to celebrate the $200,000 Talent Recruitment Grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to recruit medically trained veterans to join our region’s healthcare workforce.

Severe allergic reactions move fast. The window between when a reaction starts and when emergency services arrive is often the most critical stretch of time. What happens in those minutes depends entirely on who is nearby and whether they know what to do.

That's the gap this training was designed to close.

The "Do It for Dillon" program is a free, 75-minute course that certifies anyone ages 12 and up to recognize and respond to anaphylaxis — administering epinephrine until help arrives. No medical background required.

The next session is Monday, July 27 at 4:00 p.m. at the Emplify Health Children and Adolescent Center, Group Treatment Room A&B. Space is limited.

Together, we opened an experiential learning storefront at Junior Achievement in Appleton, designed to give students in grades 4 through 6 a hands-on look at what a career in healthcare actually looks like.

Students step into roles like health care CEO, explore how medical organizations operate, and discover the range of careers available in this field — all inside a real, immersive environment built specifically for them.
