So I decided I’d tackle a “quick” job of decorating our side porch in millennial green (which is apparently what millennial grey has become once we reached our late thirties).

Here are my 10 “easy” steps:

1: extensive cleaning
2: primer
3: first coat
4: overcome desperation
5: second coat
6: third coat
7: enlist husband to help with sanding floor
8: stain floor
9: touch ups
10: add plants and pretty things 🪴 🌺

I’m excited to share that I’ve been awarded tenure at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay.

When I moved to Green Bay, I hoped I would find a place where I could build a career doing work I love alongside people I genuinely enjoy working with. Over the past few years, has become just that, my academic home.

I’m especially grateful to my fantastic mentor, Dr Sawa Senzaki, my supportive chairs Dr Jason Cowell and Dr Georjeanna Wilson-Doenges, and a rocking dean Dr Ryan Martin. Your guidance, support, and friendship has meant the world to me. Thanks to all my colleagues for creating such a collaborative and supportive environment.

I’d also like to thank the incredible students in the Social Research Lab. Watching you grow as scholars, researchers, and people has been one of the most rewarding parts of this job.

One of my students made a Minecraft version of our research lab and I am obsessed with it 😭 .7

Honestly one of my favourite things about running a lab is when students start treating it as THEIR lab. Somewhere they feel comfortable to pursue their research dreams.

Apparently they also spend enough hours there to recreate it block by block in Minecraft 😂💚

Senior members of the Social Research Lab presented their research at the Midwestern Psychological Association today.

Their independent research projects spanned topics such as empathy, AI, and childhood trauma. The quality of their work showcases their incredible talent and the many hours of hard work they put into these projects.

I am so sad that they will all be leaving my lab at the end of semester, but know they must go on to bigger and better things.
