Day 603: Haven’t updated much this week, so here goes .

First part of this week Audrey hasn’t gotten much sleep, whether it’s been just anxiety, irritability or some changes to her meds, we aren’t completely sure.
Tuesday at 34 Project she was very agitated. Pam did get some grounding and stretching in but Audrey was not having much anything else.

Didn’t sleep Tuesday night nor Monday. Yesterday (Wed) she was just so exhausted that it wasn’t until afternoon before she kind of calmed and relaxed. We shut off all lights and sort of walked away to give her space. She snoozed off and on and then finally gave it up and slept soundly until around 8.

On a good note yesterday she did tell me Hi! through her communication tablet, but wouldn’t answer any of the questions posed to her after that.

Salina said she did sleep all night last night, so today was a much much better day.

In fact today was a stellar day! Back for her workout at The 34 Project and she certainly rocked it. Pam spent a little time on grounding and stretching then was able to get Audrey standing up in the lift chair! She worked on getting her legs and ankle aligned and she stood up for the longest ever! It seemed like at least 15 minutes. ( it may not have been but sure seemed like it).

While she was standing she had a surprise visit from one of her besties. Brenda Medina arrived in time to witness and when Audrey locked eyes on her she had the biggest grin. While she was standing and we were all cheering her on and making a big fuss I got to take pictures of her standing with some of her cheer team. Even Audrey’s racing buddy came over and got in on the action. There’s a sweet picture of them as Audrey leans in to show Darrell some love!

And as if all that wasn’t enough she still completed almost 20 minutes on the bike doing about 3 miles.

Every day at is a win for Audrey but today was more evident of Gods miraculous work. We praise him and are eternally grateful for a therapist who is not only competent and experienced in her field but who also cares enough to pray for her athletes ! She told me that as she drove into work she prayed “Lord give Audrey a miracle today!”

Today was a booster shot for us all! And please pray Audrey continues to heal and progress.

Psalm 103:1 “Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. “

This scripture has been going through my mind all day and when I talked to Salina this evening she said Audrey was still doing good. She had just the best day, after 34 project, Salina, Audrey, Marianna and Brenda all went to lunch at Olive Garden.

Day 599: Numbers 6:24-26: "The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

Sunday’s are still pretty restful and laid back for Audrey, even though she doesn’t sleep as much as she once did.

Salina went to help Rodney this afternoon so I got to spend a few hours with her, just relaxing and watching some tv in the living room. We did do some figure eights and worked on her moving her legs together and touching the floor.

You may think this is simple, but please remember she’s in the process of re-training her brain to do the simplest of things that we typical learn and then do automatically and never give a second thought to.

Please keep your prayers going and pray Audrey can experience some peace and patience. We can only imagine how tough it is on her to be in her current condition even though we consistently tell her that she’s getting better and will continue!

Day 598: Audrey has had some better days. Thursday workout at the 34 Project went well. Pam did 2 separate sessions with her on the raised mat, doing some stretches with 20 minute bike ride in between and Audrey did extremely well, not pulling her foot out .

She did receive her communication device on Wednesday; but didn’t seem interested in it or even using it. However Marianna has successfully got her to use it on Friday.

Salina knows that Audrey’s personality in the past was one that didn’t like to be pushed into doing anything, it has to be her idea! So if she just needs time that’s what she’ll get, but we are thankful that Marianna is able to get her to use it some. PTL

Today has been just Audrey and Salina time. Mom and daughter got out and about together to run some errands. It is our goal that as Audrey continues to make progress in her recovery that we can give her some semblance of normalcy or create a new normal for her.

We are continually amazed at how the Lord works and continues to heal and provide all things needed for her care and recovery.

One thing that is evident in our journey of healing and faith with Audrey is not succumbing to fear and will continue to live in faith looking forward to all that’s to come.

Philippians 4:6–7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

Continue praying for

1. continual healing of Brain
2. Being able to find her voice and to use her communication device
3. Movement in arms, hands, fingers and legs
4. progress in her swallowing
5. pray for her muscle memory and contracted muscles to free up.
6.Strength and control in her ankles, so she can bear weight.
7. Lessening of muscle spasms

Thank you All!

Day 594: Isaiah 41:10: "So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

If you’ve followed Audrey’s journey, you know that from the beginning this is the scripture we have claimed on behalf of Audrey.

At every turn He is right there and we have witness so many miraculous and divinely directed events.

But in due course we will have times when we just don’t feel up to it! No matter what IT is. Today started out like this, she just wasn’t having it at The 34 project today. Pam worked with her
Doing her grounding, some figure eights and stretching, but when it came time to do the bike she just wasn’t cooperating and we could tell she just didn’t want to “perform” today. Pam backed off and we didn’t force it. Again so thankful for therapist that is sensitive to Audrey and her moods. And we Praise the Lord that she does and can exhibit “ moods”

Spoke with Salina and after they returned home and she napped for awhile, she seems to be all good .

It’s days like these when you’ve got to stretch to try to figure out what she’s feeling. Hopefully as soon as she gets her communication device she’ll be able to let us know!!!

Please continue your prayers for:

1. continual healing of Brain
2. Being able to find her voice
3. Movement in arms, hands, fingers and legs
4. progress in her swallowing
5. pray for her muscle memory and contracted muscles to free up.
6.Strength and control in her ankles, so she can bear weight.
7. Lessening of muscle spasms.

Thank you!

Day 592: 1 Thessalonians 5:18: "Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus.

Audrey’s had a few fairly quiet days except for trip to ER Friday night, but she’s good. She’d vomited for some reason, but they did do some bloodwork, no infection, also did a chest xray to make sure she didn’t aspirate, lungs were clear and she was sent home. There’s been no issues since. So we Praise the Lord for that!!

Saturday she and Salina caught up on sleep and then evening they got some time in the floor working out.

I spent a couple hours with her today and she was just chilling and watching a movie. We did get a little stretching in on her shoulders and arms but didn’t push it .

Please pray:

1. continual healing of Brain
2. Being able to find her voice
3. Movement in arms, hands, fingers and legs
4. progress in her swallowing
5. pray for her muscle memory and contracted muscles to free up.
6.Strength and control in her ankles, so she can bear weight.
7. Lessening of muscle spasms

Day 589: Thursday and her best day of therapy at ever. As you know, off and on for past few months Audrey’s had times of heightened agitation. We don’t really know what’s been going on, and can only speculate. No matter what it’s been, hopefully we are getting past this phase.

We have modified how we address certain situations and have backed off from too much hoovering!

Today Pam started out with her grounding technique and Audrey responded very well and quickly. She was relaxed and very engaged after, so next it was 15 minutes on the FES bike. She did 2.79 miles with the resistance increased up to 9.01 and she kept a steady pace of 50 miles per hour, without pulling her foot out at all!!! Big win since this hasn’t happened in the past couple of months.

Pam then got her on the raised mat and had really productive stretching work out with Audrey, working her shoulders and chest area getting her really opened up and relaxed, also worked some on her back and legs. Audrey was very responsive to this portion and you could see the release and contentment all over Audrey’s face.

It truly was just an amazing day at The 34 Project, and just another reminder of how the Lord continues to work in Audrey’s healing progress, providing dedicated therapist, the perfect resource center and the best community. Darrell her racing buddy was there and though they didn’t have opportunity to compete he did come over to where Audrey was on the mat, to speak to her and it just warms your heart when you see the recognition on her face and see her give Darrell a fist bump!!!

Today she was in such a good and happy mood that she managed to wave to the others as we were leaving.

Thank you all for your consistent prayers and again the Lord is listening to your petitions and prayers continue to be answered.

Corinthians 1:11: "You also must help us by prayer, so that many will give thanks on our behalf for the blessing granted us through the prayers of many".

After leaving The 34 Project, Salina, Audrey and Marianna took in a few hours of shopping and going out to eat.
So all in all great day all around and we are again so very Proud of Audrey, all her hard work, and her determination. You know we can’t fully understand all she goes through, but we know she’s had some difficult times lately. Whether they’ve been physical, emotional, mental or all, she’s one determined young lady!

FYI: Neuroplasticity is the brain's natural ability to reorganize itself by forming new neural connections after a traumatic brain injury (TBI). Healthy areas of the brain can learn to take over the work of damaged areas.

Some Therapies That Build New Connections:

Physical therapy: Doing repetitive body movements helps retrain the brain to control muscles and balance

Task-specific practice: Doing everyday actions over and over teaches the brain how to do them again.

Continue praying for

1. Muscles to relax and reduce spasticity.
2. Significant progress in Swallowing
3. Increased weight bearing
4 . Emotional well being
5. Continued healing of the brain

Day 587 and 588:

Tuesday was The 34 Project She did much better on her grounding, it didn’t take Pam as long. She rode the bike approximately 20 min before she pulled her leg out. All in all a good day, plus she seemed happy and never got agitated.

Today: The Numotion guy came and he was able to stretch the back of her chair a little. He said he would submit the paperwork to have her chair re evaluated so that maybe we can get a new chair sooner than normal. He also said that with her getting the eye gaze tablet she might be able to get a motorized chair that she can run from the tablet.
But for now she is sitting much better than she has thankfully.

We are so very thankful how the Lord continues to provide all her needs.

Philippians 4:19: "And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus"

Please continue praying for our girl! Thank you

Day 585: Proverbs 14:23 “All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.” This verse highlights the importance of taking action and working diligently. It reminds us that genuine effort and persistence are necessary for achieving success and reaping the rewards of our labor.

Our girl continues to work hard even on her days of rest. Today we focused on movement in her legs together. On command she will bring her feet together then move them out straight together and bring them down touching the floor.

FYI: For someone with a severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), moving the legs together in a synchronized way takes a massive amount of conscious and physical effort.

In the days ahead please focus your prayers on:

1. Muscles to relax and reduced spasticity.
2. Significant progress in Swallowing
3. Increased weight bearing.

Audrey’s brain continues to heal but one thing for certain is our girl is determined, she understands and complies with most commands. Oh yea, did I mention she’s a bit stubborn and willful!

We love that her personality is still there!

God bless you and thank you from bottom of our hearts!

Day 582: It has been a very busy week for our girl. Appt on Monday to see her PA and everything went well. Tuesday was her workout at the 34 project. Her therapist has been focusing a lot of her time on grounding.

FYI: Grounding techniques for traumatic brain injury (TBI) patients help manage sensory overload, emotional dysregulation, and cognitive fatigue by re-centering attention on the physical body and the immediate present moment. These strategies must be simple, adaptable, and respectful of individual cognitive limits.

Today Audrey was back at the 34 project. Lately she seems more agitated and again we have exactly the right people in place to work with Audrey. Pam is always very in-tune to Audrey and doesn’t push her past what she’s up to on any given day. The grounding techniques she uses is very successful with Audrey, she doesn’t rush and she works diligently, lovingly and patiently with Audrey and the way she talks to her truly warms our hearts.

In some ways it appears Audrey maybe grieving for things past and what her limitations are.” After Pam spent time on her grounding she went to the bike and lo and behold her favorite racing partner, Darrell, was there. He is always so encouraging with her! She was still a bit tensed so Pam decided we’d only shoot for ten minutes. Audrey got through the ten minutes and Pam started shutting down the bike, but Audrey wanted to continue. So Pam let her do what Audrey wanted. She completed an additional 15 plus minutes and really rocked it! She would probably have gone longer but she had another appointment at OU.

So BIG NEWS today!! Audrey met with Cambria with Tonii Dynavox , she did her evaluation on Audrey to see if she’d be able to utilize a communication device ! And Praise the Lord it went extremely well and Audrey will be receiving her device within the next couple of weeks. Then Cambria will come to Audrey’s home and will do some training for us all. This is extremely exciting and will definitely be a game changer and hopefully will give Audrey the inspiration to keep pushing forward! Just like you and me, Audrey has the capacity to feel every emotion imaginable and not being able to effectively communicate must be so very frustrating for her and sets her moods just as anyone else!

The device they used today to evaluate is a purpose built, eye controlled communication solution on Windows.

The most exciting event of the day was when Audrey could communicate a simple but so meaningful phrase “Mom Love You”. I wasn’t at the evaluation but so wished I could have witnessed that. You know that Salina has yearned to hear that from her daughter for the past year and 8 months!

1 Corinthians 13:4-7: Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud.

1 Corinthians 13:13: And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Please rejoice with us! Give the Lord thanks for all He has done for Audrey, pray for Pam her physical therapist, her nurse Marianna, Tracy her speech pathologist, and all the professionals that see her, plus her Biggest Advocate, Her mom Salina, and please keep your fervent prayers going.

Specifically pray that Audrey’s emotional well being stay positive, that we all continue to encourage her and do the very best we can for her!

God Bless you all! She has the very best team of prayer warriors and we don’t ever forget it takes us all!!!

Day 577: It was a whirlwind week for Audrey; but she’s doing well. She spent most of day with us and we just did a little self care this morning and then she napped off and on. Letting her have her day of rest. This week will be a very full week of appts and workouts, so please keep her close in your prayers.

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace she whose mind is steadfast, because she trusts in You.

Please continue prayers for:

1. continual healing of Brain
2. Being able to find her voice
3. Movement in arms, hands, fingers and legs
4. progress in her swallowing
5. pray for her muscle memory and contracted muscles to free up.
6.Strength and control in her ankles, so she can bear weight.
7. Lessening of muscle spasms

Thank you
