Rhubarb season is officially here, and our Friends are not complaining! ☀️🥧💚

This week, the kitchen was filled with the sweet taste (and smell!) of summer as our residents enjoyed homemade rhubarb cream pie made from a treasured family recipe passed down from Diane's mother.

A huge thank you to Diane and Sister Dorothy, who baked an incredible 15 rhubarb cream pies for everyone to enjoy! The pies were a hit, and with every slice came stories of backyard gardens, family gatherings, favorite recipes, and summers gone by.

There’s something special about sharing food that brings back memories and sparks conversation. It's moments like these that turn an ordinary lunch into something unforgettable.

Here's to rhubarb season, homemade pie, and the simple joys that make summer so sweet! ❤️🥧☀️

Today, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their courage and sacrifice made so many of the freedoms we cherish possible. 🇺🇸

As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day weekend, may we also take a moment to reflect with gratitude for those who served and never made it home.

☘️ Yesterday was filled with laughter, music, and a whole lot of green at McCormick 💚

Our friends enjoyed an Irish sing-along, some fun trivia, decorated their wheelchairs and walkers for the McCormick St. Patty’s Day Parade (and wow… the creativity 👀), and treated themselves to shamrock shakes and festive green beer.

It was one of those days that just felt good — lots of smiles, a little silliness, and time spent together.

And truly, we’re pretty lucky to have such an amazing Life Enrichment Assistant and team who brings days like this to life ☘️

Dear families and community,

As winter storm Elsa continues to impact our area, I want to provide an update on our St. Paul Elder Services communities in Kaukauna and Green Bay.

In our line of work, care does not pause for weather. Every hour of every day, individuals rely on us for safety, comfort, and quality care, and our commitment to those we serve remains our top priority.

Our leadership team has activated incident command to ensure continuous coordination around staffing, snow removal, dining services, and essential operations across our communities. We also have associates supporting one another with transportation and schedule flexibility to help maintain strong coverage throughout the storm.

I am grateful to share that our communities are doing well. Through the dedication of our associates, we have maintained coverage, team members have stayed beyond scheduled shifts to support one another, and plans are in place to ensure continuity of care through today and tomorrow.

Our facilities management teams continue working diligently to clear snow, with emergency exits and critical access points prioritized first. Parking lots and sidewalks will continue to be cleared throughout tomorrow morning.

For those planning to visit on Tuesday, we encourage afternoon visits when conditions and access will be improved, and to allow our team the space and time to adequately clear our parking lots.

I want to sincerely thank our associates for the extraordinary commitment they continue to show. Their willingness to put those we serve first reflects the heart of who we are as an organization. We are incredibly fortunate to have such a dedicated team.

Please continue to stay safe, and thank you for your trust and support during this winter storm.

On this holy night, light has come into the world, and the hope long promised has been fulfilled in the birth of Jesus Christ. In Him, we find peace for the weary, comfort for the brokenhearted, and joy that cannot be taken away.

"The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel (which means “God with us”)." Matthew 1:23

At St. Paul Elder Services, we give thanks for Emmanuel—present among us in love, mercy, and compassion, and alive in the way we care for one another each day.

💚 Grateful for Community. Committed to Care. 💛

St. Paul Elder Services is honored to receive a grant from the Green Bay Packers Foundation, supporting health and wellness initiatives for our McCormick Assisted Living staff at our Green Bay Campus.

We were proud to have Tiahna, Team Lead Personal Care Associate, and Aaron, Director of Resource Development & Engagement, attend the event on behalf of SPES. Tiahna provides hands-on care to our assisted living residents while also offering leadership and support to fellow care staff at McCormick—representing the heart of what this grant is meant to support.

This investment is about more than funding—it’s about caring for the people who provide care every day. We deeply value our associates and are grateful to the Green Bay Packers Foundation for helping us take care of those who take care of others.

As a fun highlight, Tiahna and Aaron also had the opportunity to snap a photo with Vonnie Holliday, former Green Bay Packers defensive lineman who played 15 seasons in the NFL, reflecting the Packers’ ongoing commitment to community and service.

Fall is in full swing, and our McCormick family is making the most of it with a season full of joy, music, and togetherness!

🎶 Music & More:
From the soulful sounds of Tom’s Tunes, karaoke with Sue, and visits from favorite performers like Bruce and Jerry, to sing-alongs and praise & worship — music is keeping our hearts light and spirits bright.

🎃 Festive Autumn Fun:
Apple-picking outings, fall baking, Door County adventures, pumpkin-themed games, and a spook-tacular Halloween party — there’s no shortage of seasonal cheer.

🙏 Faith & Fellowship:
Daily Mass, Rosary, Confessions, and meaningful devotions remain at the heart of our days, keeping us grounded and united in faith.

💛 Everyday Moments that Matter:
Bingo games, WOW sessions, bunco, trivia, coffee tastings, special outings, and even a dedicated Lost & Found Day — each activity brings smiles, connections, and cherished memories.

As the autumn leaves turn, we’re so grateful for our incredible associates, volunteers, and friends who help us fill every day with warmth and purpose.

🎃✨ Pumpkin fun is on the way! With the help of our Extended Family, Friends here at McCormick Assisted Living and across St. Paul Elder Services will be joining in the Pumpkin Decorating Contest. 🎨🐾

We’re gathering pumpkins now, and soon you’ll be able to stop in and cast your vote for your favorites right here in Grellinger Hall on the Green Bay campus!

(SPES Extended Family members are associates from across our campus who aren’t necessarily part of direct care, but stop in to support, socialize, and facilitate activities.) We know that together, they’ll turn the pumpkins into spooktacular showstoppers! 👻🎨

If you’d like to help, pumpkins (big or small!) can be dropped off at the trailer on the E. 12th Street side of the building from September 29 – October 3.

Here’s how it works:
🎃 Oct. 13 → Friends & their Extended Family get started decorating
🎃 Oct. 27–30 → Pumpkins go on display in Haen (Kaukauna) & Grellinger Hall (Green Bay)
