What are you holding on to?

There is a simple story from the Gita about a monkey who reaches into a clay pot to grab a peanut. His hand fits in easily while open, but once he closes his fist around the peanut, he can’t pull it back out.

He could let go.

But he won’t.

He holds so tightly that he is eventually captured.

Isn’t that us sometimes?

Holding on so tightly to something physical, emotional, mental, or somewhere in between-that we don’t even realize that holding is what keeps us stuck.

This is one of the things that speaks so deeply to me about Yin yoga.

Yin gives us time.

Time to settle into that sweet spot, the "Goldilocks" place I like to call it. The place between too much and not enough.

Time to stop pushing.

Time to stop fixing.

Time to simply be.

To be with sensations.

To be with the breath.

To notice what surfaces when the body becomes a little more still and the minds begins to settle.

And perhaps most importantly, to become aware of what we are holding.

Yin has changed my body, yes…but even more than that it has changed the way I move through life.

It gives me space to notice.

To soften.

To listen.

To loosen the grasp.

That is what makes Yin special to me.

So tonight, I invite you to come explore what happens on your mat when you give yourself permission to settle in, become somewhat still, and simply be.

Come support me as your instructor and allow me to support you.

Come as you are.
And maybe, just maybe, we will discover something we are ready to loosen our grip on.

How’s the mind chatter? A little louder than normal? A little harder to quiet??
One of the many gifts of a 90 minute practice is having time to slowly move out of the noise.

Come move.

Come breathe.

Come settle the body and quiet the mind with me tonight.

This is an open invitation to all bodies and all levels. Your practice is yours. Move when your body says move. Pause when it asks for stillness. Explore the variations that feel right for you.

Throughout our practice, you will have space to listen not to what you think you should do, but what your body is actually asking for.

AND we will close with an extra long svasana providing time to integrate, soften, breathe, and simply settle into stillness.

Nothing to accomplish.

Nothing to prove.

Just 90 minutes to calm the chatter and come home to you.

I would love to share this space with you tonight.

An invitation to class tonight.

Don’t let the time be an excuse to not give it a go.

90 minutes allows for time.

Time to settle…
Time to breathe…
Time to soften…

An invitation to let go of all the heavy you’ve been carrying and simply be.

No expectations…
No perfect poses (because let me let you in on a secrete that doesn’t exist 😉)…
No need to keep pushing.

Just space to be…whatever that is.

You decide what class looks like for you as I will provide several options to explore as we move and find stillness.

All bodies.
All abilities.
All beings.
Exactly as you are.

Yin Yoga in the Park

Hi everyone 👋🏻

Some like it hot, but 94 degrees for yin outside isn’t quite what I was going for.

Due to the extreme heat we will be rescheduling class for tonight. Stay hydrated 💦 and we will see you on a cooler evening.

07/09/2026

Guess what time it is?

Time for you to set yourself as a priority.

I know it can be hard to do, but you are worth it!

The best thing I ever did for myself when I was struggling many years ago was to choose a 90 minute yoga class once a week.

It wasn’t easy. I took some guff from my family. I had to stop judging myself both in class and out of class, but quickly we all learned it was important for me to have this time, mentally, emotionally, and physically.

Take some time for yourself tonight.

Happy Summer Solstice ☀️

Today marks the Summer Solstice-the longest day of the year.

While the sun reaches its peak, nature finds equal balance of light and dark. It reminds us that life is not about endlessly striving for more, but about honoring the cycles of expansion, reflection, release, and renewal.

Today many yogis honor the Solstice by practicing 108 Sun Salutations.

Why 108?

108 is considered a sacred number representing the interconnectedness of self and universe.

There are said to be 108 energy lines converging at the heart center.
Mala beads contain 108 beads.
108 Marma points
Ancient yogis viewed 108 as a symbol of wholeness-a reminder that we are both individual and inseparable from something far greater.

The number 108 also appears throughout the cosmos.
The distance between the Earth and the Sun is approximately 108 times the Sun's diameter, and the distance between the Earth and the Moon is approximately 108 times the Moon's diameter.
Across the vastness of space, this sacred number appears as a quiet reminder of the relationship between Earth, Moon, Sun, and the rhythms that connect all life.

To honor the sun many yogis practice 108 sun salutation. This practice of 108 Sun Salutations is not about perfection.

It is a moving meditation.
A prayer in motion.
An opportunity to meet yourself again and again through challenge, breath, strength, surrender, resistance, determination, and grace.

Some rounds feel effortless.
Some feel messy.
Some invite you to keep going when you want to stop.
Much like life.

Today, whether you complete 108 Sun Salutations, spend a few quiet moments beneath the sun, or simply pause to notice the beauty of this turning point in the season, may you remember:

You are not separate from the rhythms of the earth.
You are not separate from the moon that guides the tides.
You are not separate from the sun that sustains life.
You are part of it all.

☀️ Breathe deeply.
☀️ Move intentionally.
☀️ Honor where you are.

And trust that everything you seek is already finding its way home.

90 minute Flow tonight. Let’s move through the Gunas together.

Arriving however you arrive…resistance, heaviness…

Waking our body and beings up…
Generating heat, deepening breath…

Then, discovering balance, clarity, equanimity…
Being present…

Ending with integration time, stillness, and breath…

Let’s move and explore together
