What are you holding on to?
There is a simple story from the Gita about a monkey who reaches into a clay pot to grab a peanut. His hand fits in easily while open, but once he closes his fist around the peanut, he can’t pull it back out.
He could let go.
But he won’t.
He holds so tightly that he is eventually captured.
Isn’t that us sometimes?
Holding on so tightly to something physical, emotional, mental, or somewhere in between-that we don’t even realize that holding is what keeps us stuck.
This is one of the things that speaks so deeply to me about Yin yoga.
Yin gives us time.
Time to settle into that sweet spot, the "Goldilocks" place I like to call it. The place between too much and not enough.
Time to stop pushing.
Time to stop fixing.
Time to simply be.
To be with sensations.
To be with the breath.
To notice what surfaces when the body becomes a little more still and the minds begins to settle.
And perhaps most importantly, to become aware of what we are holding.
Yin has changed my body, yes…but even more than that it has changed the way I move through life.
It gives me space to notice.
To soften.
To listen.
To loosen the grasp.
That is what makes Yin special to me.
So tonight, I invite you to come explore what happens on your mat when you give yourself permission to settle in, become somewhat still, and simply be.
Come support me as your instructor and allow me to support you.

Come as you are.
And maybe, just maybe, we will discover something we are ready to loosen our grip on.
