Something Witchy This Way Comes — A Practical Magic Event: A Gathering of Witches

The brooms have officially arrived, the eucalyptus and botanicals are coming in, decorations are starting to pile up… and suddenly the vision I’ve had in my head is starting to come to LIFE.

And LOOK AT THESE BROOMS!! 😍 Apple Orchard and Cinnamon scented brooms?! Are you kidding me?! They smell absolutely amazing and they are going to be PERFECT for what we have planned.

I want you to feel like you’ve stepped into a little bit of magic the second you walk through our doors. Herbs, botanicals, brooms, witches, midnight margaritas, creating, gathering, laughing, shopping, and all the Practical Magic vibes we can possibly fit into one night.

We have been dreaming and planning and gathering all the little details, and seeing these pieces start arriving has me downright GIDDY.

I wanted to share something because unless you’re one of my regular Spinal Flow clients, you probably don’t even know we offer this. 🤍

These little beauties are Clear Quartz Dodecahedrons, and there is SO much more to them than just being beautiful.

The dodecahedron is one of the five Platonic solids. It has 12 pentagonal faces and, in sacred geometry traditions, is associated with Spirit, Ether, the Universe, higher consciousness and the energy that connects everything together.

Energetically, the dodecahedron is often used when you are ready to expand beyond where you currently are. It represents connection to the bigger picture—helping you move out of the noise of the mind and into intuition, awareness and deeper connection with yourself.

Memories.

This came up in my memories today, and whew… this one hit me.

Most people look at this picture and see love. And they’re right. You can see the love between Jim and I without knowing anything about what was actually happening in this moment.

But I know what was happening.

I was so sick.

Cancer and chemo were taking so much out of me at this point that there were times I could barely function. I could barely stand on my own.

That night I walked over to my husband, wrapped my arms around him and leaned my entire body into him.

I didn’t have to tell him what I needed.

He knew.

I wasn’t just hugging him. I needed his strength to hold me up because I didn’t have enough strength left in my own body to do it myself.

And he held me.

Literally.

What nobody could see in this picture was everything happening behind the scenes.

We had a zero-gravity chair set up in the back of our old race trailer with a tarp, a heater and a weighted blanket. I would gather enough strength to get up and watch my husband race, and then I would go lay back down because my body would completely shut down.

There were so many moments like that during those years that nobody saw.

We were trying to live our life while I was fighting for mine.

And Jim was beside me for every single step.

Making sure I had nutrients in my body when I couldn’t do it myself. Making sure I drank water. Helping me walk. Helping me stand. Taking care of me when I couldn’t take care of myself in any way.

He became my strength when mine was gone.

But looking at this picture now, six years later, I also see something I probably couldn’t fully understand while we were living it.

What he was going through.

Can you imagine watching your wife wither away in front of you and not being able to do a damn thing to stop it?

He was going through his own hell while trying to hold me through mine.

And he never stopped showing up.

This picture was captured completely candidly by Diana Ogden. And if you know Diana, you KNOW she has a special talent for catching people in the absolute worst, most unflattering moments. 😂 Usually when Diana has the camera out, you better prepare yourself for whatever picture is about to surface.

But this time…

She captured one of the most precious memories I could ever have.

She didn’t just capture a hug between a husband and wife.

She captured the moment my body couldn’t hold itself up anymore, so my husband did.

She captured strength.

She captured safety.

She captured resilience.

She captured devotion.

She captured a bond so deep that I didn’t even know something like this was possible in this lifetime.

There are pictures that remind you what a moment looked like.

And then there are pictures that bring you right back to exactly what that moment felt like.

This one does that for me.

Six years later, he is still my strength. My solid. My balance. The person I can put my entire weight into when I can no longer hold myself up.

Yes, this is absolutely a picture of love.

But it is also a picture of what it means to truly stand beside someone through sickness and health. Through fear. Through uncertainty. Through the moments when you don’t know what tomorrow is going to look like.

It’s a picture of two people who were asked to carry more than they ever imagined they could carry and learned that when one of us couldn’t stand, the other would stand for both of us.

Diana, you probably had absolutely no idea what you captured when you snapped this picture.

But today, six years later, I do.

You captured a love that is more than I ever could have dreamed of having in this life.

And I will treasure this picture forever.
