🧠 ADHD & Emotional Regulation

ADHD isn’t just about attention and focus.

For some people with ADHD, emotions can feel especially intense or difficult to manage. Frustration, overwhelm, rejection, stress, or excitement can sometimes feel like they go from 0 to 100 very quickly.

Learning to recognize triggers, understand emotional patterns, and develop coping strategies can help make those moments easier to navigate.

💙 Understanding what’s happening is often the first step toward finding strategies that work.

If ADHD is affecting your relationships, work, school, or everyday life, therapy can be one place to explore what support may look like for you. Contact In Sync Counseling to learn more.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month — an opportunity to raise awareness, support survivors, and remind people that abuse can take many forms.

Domestic violence isn’t always physical. It can include emotional, verbal, sexual, financial, or psychological abuse, as well as patterns of control and intimidation.

If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, support is available. You deserve to feel safe, respected, and supported.

If you are in immediate danger, call 911. For confidential support, contact the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-7233 or visit their website.

🧠 ADHD Can Look Different for Everyone

There’s no single way ADHD looks.

For one person, it may show up as difficulty staying focused. For another, it might look like forgetfulness, trouble getting started on tasks, time blindness, impulsivity, emotional overwhelm, or difficulty keeping up with everyday responsibilities.
And sometimes, what looks like “not trying” from the outside may actually be someone struggling with executive functioning.

Understanding the differences can help us replace judgment with compassion. 💙

Save this post as a reminder: ADHD doesn’t have to look a certain way to be real.

🌎 World Mental Health Day

Today is a reminder that mental health is an important part of overall well-being — and everyone deserves access to support when they need it.

Mental health can affect how we think, feel, function, connect with others, and navigate everyday life. Whether you're managing anxiety, depression, stress, or simply going through a difficult season, you don't have to figure everything out alone.
💙

Taking care of your mental health is not a sign of weakness. It’s part of taking care of yourself.

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out for support, this can be your reminder to take that first step. Contact In Sync Counseling to learn more about our services.

This month, we’ll be highlighting the many ways ADHD can affect attention, executive functioning, emotional regulation, relationships, and everyday life.

ADHD can look different from person to person and doesn’t always look the way people expect. Our content this month will focus on increasing understanding, reducing stigma, and recognizing that the right support and strategies can make a meaningful difference.
