Have you ever started really liking someone…and suddenly wanted to RUN?
Sometimes when feelings get deeper, old attachment wounds get louder.
If you grew up believing, “I have to take care of myself because no one else will,” independence may have become your safety.
So when someone gets close enough to actually matter, you pull away, find reasons it won’t work, or convince yourself, “I just don’t need anyone.”
Sometimes there ARE legitimate reasons to walk away. But sometimes we’re not running from the person—we’re running from the vulnerability of actually needing, trusting and letting someone in.
God didn’t design us for codependency, where we lose ourselves in another person. But He didn’t design us to live completely independent of connection either.
We were created for healthy interdependence—to be strong AND allow ourselves to be loved.
Sometimes healing isn’t becoming more independent.
Sometimes it’s finally feeling safe enough to let someone in. 💜
Are you protecting your peace…or protecting yourself from connection?
