🌟 CNA Week Spotlight: Shelby B. 🌟

This CNA Week, we are proud to recognize Shelby B. for her 16 years of dedication and compassionate care!

Shelby began her healthcare journey with Care Initiatives in 2011 in long-term care and joined Care Initiatives Hospice in 2026. She shares that the opportunity to make a difference through hands-on care is what inspired her to become a CNA.

One of Shelby’s favorite parts of the job is learning about her patients’ life stories, helping them through daily tasks, providing companionship, and most importantly seeing them smile.

On tough days, Shelby says caffeine and knowing she has made a positive impact, big or small, on her patients and their loved ones helps keep her motivated. A fun fact about Shelby is that she loves reading books! She also shared that while she doesn’t have a favorite quote, her favorite word is “Believe,” and she enjoys collecting items with that word on them.

Thank you, Shelby, for your kindness, dedication, and the incredible care you provide each and every day. 💙

🌟 CNA Week Spotlight: Jen J. 🌟

This CNA Week, we are proud to recognize Jen J. for her compassion, advocacy, and dedication to hospice care.

Jen has been a CNA for nearly 18 years and has worked as a hospice aide for a little over a year. She shares that her inspiration came from her mom, who is a natural caregiver, and believes she and her sister were raised to care for others the same way — “It’s just what we do.”

Jen has a special passion for hospice care and holds it very close to her heart. She believes hospice is often misunderstood without proper education and wants others to know just how important it is to provide extra care, comfort, and time during end-of-life care. Her patients and families know her as a strong advocate who always goes the extra mile. On difficult days, Jen stays motivated by remembering how important her role is and knowing that her patients and families rely on her.

Fun fact: Jen has 7 dogs - and if you know her, you know she will gladly talk about them all day and share plenty of pictures! One thing Jen wanted everyone to know: “I love what I do.”
