❤️ Our August Grateful Patient said it best! ❤️

“Since moving to the North Fork, I struggled to find a primary care provider I trusted, until I met Dr. Hsu. She listens, asks thoughtful questions, and truly understands the full picture. She’s thorough, compassionate, and intentional with treatment, carefully finding the right medication and making timely referrals. Her team is kind, responsive, and supportive. Thanks to Dr. Hsu, I feel confident in the care I am receiving.” -- Debra O'Gorman

Building Relationships. Inspiring Philanthropy. Strengthening Our Community.

While patient care happens around the clock at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital, the Foundation & Marketing Communications Department works every day behind the scenes to ensure the hospital has the resources, visibility, and community support needed to fulfill its mission.

Led by Linda Sweeney, Vice President of Foundation & External Affairs, the department oversees philanthropy, donor relations, special events, marketing, communications, community outreach, government relations, and the administrative oversight of the Opportunity Shop. Every campaign, event, partnership, and story helps strengthen the connection between the hospital and the communities it serves.

"I love working in Foundation and Marketing Communications because every day is different, and every project has a purpose," Linda said. "The best part of my job is leading such a talented team while building relationships with donors, volunteers, community organizations, and hospital staff who all share a commitment to improving healthcare close to home."

Special Events Manager Alex Georgoulakos enjoys connecting with the community through Foundation events. "One of my favorite parts of working for the Foundation is being out in the community and seeing firsthand how much this hospital means to people. Those conversations remind me why a community hospital is so special."

Communications Manager Nicole B. Brewer shares the hospital's stories through marketing and public relations. "I have the privilege of using my design, marketing, and communications skills to tell stories that connect people with the hospital in ways that truly matter. The best part of what I do is helping people better understand the hospital, the people behind it, and the many ways SBELIH serves our community."

Executive Assistant Janet Yagle helps coordinate community education and outreach programs. "I enjoy collaborating with healthcare professionals, community organizations, and local venues to develop engaging programs that strengthen community connections. As both a community member and a patient, I've experienced firsthand the exceptional care our hospital provides."

Senior Database Coordinator Matt Trancho supports the Foundation's fundraising efforts through donor stewardship and data management. "Seeing the tangible impact of our work—whether through the programs we support or milestones like becoming a certified Primary Stroke Center—is what makes this work so rewarding."

The department also provides administrative oversight for the Opportunity Shop, which is operated by the dedicated volunteers of the SBELIH Auxiliary, led by Auxiliary Chair Constance Connor. Opportunity Shop Manager Michael Giordano works closely with those volunteers. "Working with our incredible volunteers is one of the best parts of my job. Every donation, every purchase, and every volunteer hour helps support patient care at our hospital."

Together, the Foundation & Marketing Communications team helps raise critical funds, tell the hospital's stories, build community partnerships, and ensure exceptional healthcare remains close to home.
