Dear families of CPT,

We are disappointed to announce that Dr. Tiffany Kratzer will not be joining our practice as expected, as she has chosen to continue practicing Pediatric Gastroenterology at a different location.

As we were just made aware of Dr. Kratzer’s decision a few days ago, we are working hard to figure out the best ways to pivot on our end and make sure we continue to meet the needs of all our patients.

To the families who had chosen Dr. Kratzer as their children’s Pediatrician, we will work with you to choose a new provider within the practice, and to reschedule any appointments as soon as possible.

To patients who had been referred to Dr. Kratzer for GI concerns, our referral team will reach out to you to work on getting your child established with a Pediatric GI provider.

To the rest of our families, Dr. Kratzer’s absence will cause a ripple effect on our physician’s schedule starting 12/1/26. Unfortunately, this could mean your child’s future appointment may need to be rescheduled. We assure you we are working on this as fast as we can and will do everything we can to minimize the inconvenience and frustrations this may cause.

Thank you all for trusting CPT to care for your children. We are honored and humbled to be able to be a part of this journey with you!

It sounds simple, because it is... Proper hand washing is one of the most effective ways to keep your child healthy during the school year.

Teach your child these five steps:

1. Wet hands with clean, running water
2. Apply soap and lather well
3. Scrub for at least 20 seconds (try singing Happy Birthday twice!)
4. Rinse thoroughly
5. Dry with a clean towel or air dry

Key times to wash hands: before eating, after using the restroom, after blowing their nose, and after touching shared surfaces.

What goes in the lunchbox matters! Fueling your child's brain and body during the school day starts with a balanced meal.

Here are some simple ideas to build a healthy school lunch:

- Lean protein: turkey, chicken, cheese, or hummus
- Whole grains: whole wheat bread, crackers, or wraps
- Fruits and vegetables: whatever your child enjoys most
- A healthy fat: avocado, nut butter, or a handful of nuts (check school policy)
- Water or low-fat milk to drink

Not sure if your child is getting the right nutrition? Ask us at your next well check -- our team is happy to help!

School is starting back, is your child's sleep schedule ready?

After a summer of late nights, getting back on track can take some time. Here is how to make the transition easier:

- Start shifting bedtime 15 minutes earlier each night, beginning now
- Aim for 9-11 hours for school-age children, 8-10 hours for teens
- Power down screens at least one hour before bed
- Keep the bedroom cool, dark, and quiet
- Stick to the same wake time -- even on weekends

A well-rested child is a healthier, happier learner. Start now and make the first day of school a great one!

- Check in with your child's teacher in the first few weeks
