Spin Up Girl Fibers

Spin Up Girl Fibers A Place for Friends and Fans of Spin Up Girl Fibers Howdy howdy! Spin Up Girl Fibers is my attempt at infusing a little sexy into the world of spinning.

I’m Crystal, aka crittlet on Ravelry, and I’m the fiber-obsessed madam behind Spin Up Girl Fibers. I’m a spinner, a knitter, an occasional crocheter, a dyer, a carder, a comber, and a lover of all things fibery. It’s home to a seductive array of hand-dyed tops – who I lovingly refer to as my painted ladies, carded batts - otherwise known as my Batty Broads, dyed locks – my Untamed Dames, and hands

pun yarns, who I like to think of as my Twisted Sistas. Stop by the shop and adopt a gal of your own to fondle. Or check out what other folks are doing with their gals in the Spin Up Girl Fibers Rav group - www.ravelry.com/groups/spin-up-girl-fibers.

Tour de Fleece 2026: I’ve been lazy and haven’t gotten around to taking pics of my finished sw merino. It’s lovely, but you’re gonna have to take my word on it for now. I also finished the thick singles for my crepe yarn. I’ll be spinning two more singles of bamboo to ply it with.

Tour de Fleece 2026: Finished the second bobbin of the SW merino. I’m gonna try to get this one plied tonight. I’m hoping the colors in the plied yarn speak to me as much as they do in the singles.

Tour de Fleece 2026: Still spinning. This time it’s some sw merino, which I haven’t spun in forever. Not my favorite fiber to spin, but I love how it takes up dye. One bobbin down. One more to go.

Tour de Fleece 2026: Second finished skein of the tour is washed and dried. It came out to about 532yds. It’s not often that I spin a worsted yarn, but I think BFL kinda calls for it. It helps to bring out that shine and drape I so love about the breed. Loving how these colors are playing together. It’ll be lovely knit up.

My first finished yarn of Tour de Fleece 2026. I just love these rosettes. The technique is still pretty new to me, but I think I’ve worked out how to keep them soft, while still holding their shape. I don’t know if it’s the swirl of the rosettes, but the colors scream lollipop to me.

My third yarn of Spin Together - a simple low twist single to preserve the intensity of color with enough yardage for a project. I’ve always had a fondness for gradients. There’s just something so classy about them.

My second yarn from this year’s Spin Together and my entry for most evenly spun. It’s an American Shaniko and Tussah Silk that I dyed myself. I was playing around with a new technique for a monochromatic yarn with lots of variation of color that would work up into a fabric that wasn’t too stripey. I’m not quite there yet, but I’m getting closer. Don’t you just love seeing how the colors in a braid come together in a yarn?

This was my Wildest Art Yarn entry for this year’s Spin Together. Although I’m STILL waiting for the supplies for what I had planned on spinning, I thankfully had amassed a collection of yarny accoutrements over the years and was able to whip up this beauty. I think I’m in love with these floral appliqués. They are just so much fun.
