Self-harm is more common than most people realize.

And it's widely misunderstood.

Self-harm is NOT:
→ Attention-seeking
→ Manipulative
→ "Just a phase"
→ Something to punish or shame

Self-harm IS:
→ A coping mechanism for overwhelming pain
→ A sign someone is struggling deeply
→ Something that deserves compassionate help
→ Treatable with the right support

If someone you love is self-harming, respond with compassion, not anger.

If you are self-harming, you deserve real support.

This weekend's only assignment:

Notice one moment where you feel okay.

Not great. Not fixed. Not healed.

Just okay.

A cup of coffee. A quiet minute.
A laugh you didn't expect.
A breath that came easy.

Mental health isn't always about the hard
stuff. Sometimes it's about noticing the
small okay moments when they show up.

What was your small okay moment
this week? 👇

September 11.

A day that changed everything for so many.

Grief doesn't follow a calendar.
Trauma doesn't have an expiration date.

If today brings up feelings you weren't
expecting — that's okay.

Collective grief is real.
Anniversary reactions are real.
Your response to this day is valid
— whatever it is.

Be gentle with yourself today.

Tomorrow is World Su***de Prevention Day.

📌 Save this: What to say when someone
tells you they're struggling.

✅ "Thank you for telling me."
✅ "I'm here. I'm not going anywhere."
✅ "Are you thinking about su***de?"
✅ "Can I help you find support?"
✅ "You matter to me."

❌ "You have so much to live for."
❌ "Other people have it worse."
❌ "Just think positive."
❌ "You're being dramatic."
❌ "You'll feel better tomorrow."

Words matter.
Presence matters more.

Meet Clodagh Leszinski, LCMHCA! 💚

We are thrilled to welcome Clodagh to the Carolina Pines Counseling Center team!

Clodagh is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate specializing in children, adolescents, and parent support. Originally from Dublin, Ireland, she
brings a warm, relational approach grounded in one core belief: most behaviors make sense once you understand what's happening underneath them.

She works especially well with kids who struggle with big emotions, behavioral challenges, attachment difficulties, trauma, and school or social concerns, and with the parents trying to understand and support them.

Clodagh is trained in Trauma-Focused CBT (TF-CBT) and uses play-based, attachment-informed approaches to meet children exactly where they are.

As a mom of three herself, she gets it personally, not just professionally.

Clodagh is now accepting new clients.

September check-in.

Be honest with yourself for 30 seconds:

Are you doing better, worse, or about the
same as you were this time last year?

Don't overthink it. Just feel it.

Better → 🌱
Same → 😐
Worse → 💙

Drop your emoji below. 👇

No judgment. No wrong answer.

But if you dropped 💙 —
we'd really love to hear from you.

Labor Day.

A day to rest — if you can actually do that.

For a lot of people, rest doesn't come easy.

The brain keeps running. The worry doesn't
stop. The to-do list doesn't pause.

If "just relax" has never worked for you —
you're not broken.

You might just need some support learning
how.

Rest is a skill. We can help you build it.

The myth that keeps people from
asking the hard question:

"If I bring up su***de, I'll put
the idea in their head."

This is not true.

Research consistently shows that
asking directly about su***de does
NOT increase risk.

It often does the opposite.

It opens a door that felt permanently closed.

If you're worried about someone — ask.

"Are you thinking about su***de?"

It might be the most important
question you ever ask.

988 — call or text anytime.

September weekend reminder:

You are allowed to feel the season changing.

The days getting shorter. The air shifting.
The summer ending. Something new beginning.

For some of you that feels like relief.

For others it feels like dread.

Both are valid. Both are worth
paying attention to.

How does fall feel for you? 👇
