John Kimball Durner of Goldsboro,MD passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 at Bay Health hospital in Dover,DE. He was 77. John was born September 5, 1948 in Annapolis, MD the son of the late James Durner and Patricia “Kimball” Durner. He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and enlisted in the United States Airforce shortly after. While stationed in England , he met the love of his life, the late Susan E Scarrow. They were married for 46 years. After the military, John continued working as a welder at several establishments and eventually retired from Maritime Applied Physics Corp in 2011. John enjoyed spending time with his family and his beloved dachshund, Robert.

John was one of 10 children including Jim Durner, Patty Pepe, Mary Louise Smith, Mary Blouin, Gerry Ward, Duffy Durner, Fred Durner, Ed Durner and Joe Durner.

He is survived by his son Jonathan Durner (Rita)of Wiscasset, Maine, Susan “Becky” Durner of Henderson, MD and 6 grandchildren Kurt, Matthew, Lane, Katelyn, Zoe and Maxwell and 3 great grandchildren, Miles ,Colton and Everett .

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 31st at 1pm at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home 160 W Sunset Ave Greensboro, MD. A private visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior.

Erin Jaye Johnson, of Lawrenceville, Georgia, passed away suddenly on August 22, 2026, at the age of 44.
Erin was the beloved daughter of Jay Rostien and Brenda Rostien. She was born on July 20, 1982, in Easton Maryland, and was a proud graduate of North Caroline High School, Class of 2000.
After graduating high school, Erin moved to Georgia, where she began her career in Collections. Most recently, she worked for Northside Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
In 2003, Erin married the love of her life, Wil Johnson. Family was at the heart of Erin’s life, and she found great joy in caring for the people she loved. She enjoyed spending time at the pool and beach, especially when surrounded by her family and friends. Erin enjoyed an annual mother daughter vacation, with her mom, it was their special time together.
Along with her parents and brother Rusty Rostien, nephew Dylan Rostien and Niece Morgan Rostien, Erin leaves behind her beloved husband, Wil Johnson; her son, Jayden Johnson; her two bonus children, DeWasia Johnson and Troy Lee; her brother in law; Jermaine Johnson; her sister in laws, Katrina Drones and De Anna Davis (Larry); her mother-in-law, Vivian Johnson-Keene; and a host of in-laws, nieces and nephews
She also leaves many fond memories with her many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loved ones, who will forever cherish the time they shared with Erin.

In loving memory of Joanne Hill Thomas, who peacefully departed this life on August 21, 2026, at her cherished home in Denton, Maryland.
Born on October 16, 1954, in the same welcoming town, Joanne was a beacon of joy and kindness throughout her 71 years. Joanne was the beloved daughter of the late Harvey Sr. and Henrietta Hill. She was preceded in death by her dear parents, her brothers Larry and Harvey Hill Jr., her sisters Loretta Galloway and Roxanne Hill, and her devoted husband, Arthur "Peewee" Thomas, who she married in 1973 and shared a life with until his passing in September 1996. Later in life, she found companionship and love again with Leonard "Tommy" Bechtold, her cherished "special friend," until he too passed in October 2025. Joanne was a proud graduate of North Caroline High School, class of 1973. She was a woman of many talents, known for her love of yard sales, where she found joy in discovering hidden treasures and meeting new friends. With an infectious zest for life, Joanne was the life of every party, her laughter and dance moves lighting up every room she entered. Her upbeat personality was a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

Kathleen Ruth Easter, 78, of Greensboro, passed away peacefully at her home on August 22, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 26, 1948, in Baltimore, Maryland, Kathleen was the beloved daughter of the late James Scannell and Ruth Murphy Scannell. She was a proud member of the Catonsville High School Class of 1966 and later attended the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), where she nurtured her lifelong appreciation for creativity and the arts.
Kathleen and her family lived in Connecticut and Ohio before eventually returning to Maryland, where she created a home filled with love, music, and cherished family memories. It was after returning to Maryland that she met Jim, and the two were married on July 11, 2003.
Kathleen devoted much of her life to serving others. She was a talented organist for two churches and proudly served as a Girl Scout leader, helping to guide and inspire young people. Throughout the years, she held several jobs, including working for Kelly Girl and waitressing at Anglers Restaurant. She retired from the QA County Board of Education in 2013, where she worked as a graphic artist.

She found joy in gardening, crocheting, and sharing her musical talents by teaching piano lessons and decades of canning home-grown vegetables. Kathleen's greatest pride was her family. Nettie Mae Goad of Ridgely, MD passed away on Sunday, Aug. 16, 2026 at the Talbot Hospice House in Easton, MD. She was 94.
Nettie M. Goad was born Aug. 9, 1932 in Harrington, DE the daughter of the late Esther “Hayman” Crisp. She married the late Noble Goad early in life and was able to spend 69 years together. Over the years she worked at Rob Roy in Ridgely, Sachs Department Store in Ridgely before going on to manage the cafeteria at North Caroline High School and Greensboro Elementary school. After 32 years she retired in 1994. Nettie was a member of the Homemakers Club, Ridgely United Methodist Church, Ridgely Cemetery Board, Volunteer at Easton Hospital and 4 H Leader. She enjoyed oil painting, gardening and singing with the Gospel Rock Organization.
In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Goad, one brother, Wesley Fortney, and one sister, Irene Collins.
She is survived by two daughters, Wanda Foltz and husband Hollen, Cindy Kaufman, three grandchildren, Jordan Hammer Foltz and wife Lindsey, Aaron Foltz Semborski and wife Sara, Justin Kaufman and girlfriend Brooke, one brother, Allen Fortney and wife Lucinda, three great grandchildren, Atlas Foltz Semborski, Henry Kaufman, Pace Foltz Semborski, a special niece, Debbie Collins and her cat, “Kitty Cat”

Ronald Wayne Baker Sr, of Greensboro, MD passed away Thursday, Aug 13, 2026 at his home. He was 67.
Ronald W. Baker Sr. was born September 5, 1958 in Easton, MD the son of the late Joseph Baker and Betty “Pollard ” Baker.
He worked as a OTR Truck Driver and his last trucking job was Fox Trucking. Ron loved his family, dogs and Ford Pick-up. Ron was always willing to lend a hand and help anyone whether they were family or friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Kevin Baker and Ronald W. Baker Jr. (Junior).
He is survived by Sylvia Wood, his loving partner of 20 years. Her daughter, Dawn Wood (Stuart). Grandchildren Brittany Jefferson (Ava Connor, Maddie Connor, Myles Jefferson) and Brandon Willey. Her son, Mike Wood (Jolien), Grandchildren Wyatt Wood, Aiden Wood.
Ron’s Grandchildren Skylar Gleaton (Oliver Gleaton), Sierra Baker (Kensley Howell), Hailey Baker (Leighton Morris), Damien Baker.
He is also survived by two brothers, Donnie Baker (Connie), Rob Baker. And many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026 from 3-4:30pm at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home 106 W. Sunset Ave Greensboro, MD 21639. A service will begin at 4:30 also at the Funeral Home.

Eileen M. "Maggie" Miner, 76, of Duncan, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026.
Born on April 26, 1950, in New York, New York, Maggie was the daughter of the late Wallace Piver and Marie "Barrantes" Piver. She graduated from Mother Cabrini High School before continuing her education at Cabrini College, where she earned her bachelor's degree. She also attended Skidmore College in New York.
Maggie had a deep love for animals and dedicated her time to wildlife rehabilitation. She enjoyed playing backgammon and found great joy in birds, horses, and the outdoors. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and love of nature.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Piver and Marie "Barrantes" Piver.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband, John Miner, the love of her life, and her stepsons, Ronnie Miner and Johnny Miner, and many cousins.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Denton Cemetery, with interment immediately following.

Bertha Mae Longfellow, lovingly known to so many as “Mom-Mom Bert” or “Aunt Bert,” passed away peacefully on July 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on June 25, 1936, in Ingleside, to the late Raymond and Elizabeth Cannon Holden. She lived a life defined by love, hard work, kindness, and unwavering devotion to her family.

Bertha Mae was the heart of her family. She spent her life as a homemaker and farm wife, working alongside her beloved husband, Marion, to build a home where the coffee was always on, the front door was always open, and no one ever left feeling like a stranger. She devoted her life to caring for others and helped raise not only her own children, but also her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and countless friends who became family. Her home was a gathering place filled with laughter, good food, board games, unconditional love, and always an extra seat at the dinner table.

Bertha Mae was a proud lifetime member of the former VFW Denton Post 7937 and then VFW Federalsburg Post 5246, as well as The American Legion Post 29, where she found friendship, laughter, and a sense of community that she truly treasured throughout the years.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Longfellow; her daughter, Jona Kolakowski; her siblings, David Holden, Bill Holden, Harry Holden, Barbra Holden and Sandy Schaffner.
