April Yvonne Payne, 64, of Columbus, Ohio, passed away, Wednesday, May 27, 2026, at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s in Westerville Ohio. April was born February 9, 1962, in Corpus Christi, Texas, a daughter of the late George L. and Shirley Rhea Stephens. April enjoyed crocheting and was a member of the Eagles Linden Fraternal Order Aerie 2252 in Columbus, Ohio.

She is survived by her husband of 37 years George H. Payne; two sons Joshua Walters and George E. Payne both of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter Tiffany (Doug) Mays of Laurelville, Ohio; a brother Beaucifus “Beau” of Columbus, Ohio; several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1;00pm, Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup, Kentucky. Burial will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Greenup, Kentucky. Mary Annett Adkins, 65, of Ironton, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, Monday, May 11, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Mary was born August 4, 1960, in Greenup, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Roscoe “Buck” and Mary Riley Adkins. She was a 1978 graduate of Greenup County High School and was of the Christian faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband Joe Reffett Jr. and her second husband Larry Walker; two sisters, Gladys Louise Adkins and Michelle Meadows.

She is survived by a son Joseph Kyle (Tabitha) Reffett of Grayson, Kentucky; a daughter Betty (Brock) Smith of Ironton, Ohio; two brothers John (Sandra) Adkins of El Paso, Texas and Mike Adkins of Darien, Georgia; two sisters Becky (Bob) Bryant of Oldtown, Kentucky and Jennifer (Chad) Jude of Wi******er, Kentucky; five grandchildren Dakota Gumm, Kyle Carr, Ella Reffett, Chase Reffett, and Brock Smith Jr.; two great-grandchildren Ryder Reffett and Paisley Reffett; a host of nieces and nephews.

Delbert Lee Burton, 68, of Grayson, Kentucky passed away Monday May 5, 2026, at his residence in Grayson. Delbert was born May 24, 1957, in Columbus, Ohio, a son of Geneva (Sizemore) Burton of Pataskala, Ohio, and the late George S. Burton. He was a United States Army Veteran and a former Chaplin for Kings Daughters Medical Center. Delbert drove a bus for the county school system for many years

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years Penny Sue Burton. In addition to his mother, he survived by one son Micheal (Stephanie Emery) Cook of Loris, South Carolina; one brother John Burton of Loris, South Carolina; two sisters Linda (Charlie) Goddard of Groveport, Ohio and Brenda (Bill) Thompson of Pataskala, Ohio; four granddaughters Breanna Gosnell, Joanna Gosnell, Savanna Cooke, and Roseanna Cooke all of South Carolina; his late wife’s children Steve (Amanda) Schmidt of Russell, Kentucky and Carolyn (Chris) Stapleton of Pickerington, Ohio; grandchildren Alexs Nichols, Brayden and Eva Schmidt, Austin, Hailey and Brian (Danni) Stapleton, Cam Bryan, and Max Bryan; a great-grandson Silas Stapleton; and many nieces and nephews.

Jewel D. Dean, 77, of Danleyton, Kentucky, passed away, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at her home. Jewel was born June 3, 1948, in Grayson, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Kenneth Edward and Stella Faye Stone Brown. Jewel enjoyed quilting, gardening, and working with flowers.

In addition to her [parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Aleck Dean.

She is survived by a brother James Kenneth (Shiela) Brown; two sisters Wilma (Ralph) Stephens of Greenup, Kentucky and Sandra (Phillip) Litteral of Argillite. Kentucky; a host of nieces and nephews.

Ella Louise Hammond Foster, 84, of Greenup, Kentucky went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Louise was born July 5, 1941, in Portsmouth, Ohio, a daughter of the late Edgar E. and Ruby Alice Collins Hammond. Louise was a 1959 graduate of the former McKell High School and a member of Lloyd First Baptist Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and her work at the church. Louise loved her family and spending time with them.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack Rufus Foster; two brothers Bill Hammond and Gene Hammond.

She is survived by one son Rusty (Cheri) Foster of Lloyd, Kentucky; one daughter Cindy McCullough of Lloyd, Kentucky; one brother Fred Hammond of South Shore, Kentucky; six grandchildren Phillip (Leah) McCullough, Brittany (Gerald) Stambaugh, Timothy Jack (Sarah) McCullough, Adam (Sarah) Foster, Benjamin Foster, and Reece Foster; 10 great grandchildren Noah, Logan, Kaelyn, Sophie, Jonah, Jaxon, Lydia, Samuel, Ayden, and Grant; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jimmy Raye Boyles, 65, of Greenup, Kentucky passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Jimmy was born February 24, 1961, in Greenup, Kentucky the beloved son of the late Glenn William and Dorothy “Dottie” Jean Hannah Boyles. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law Terry Huffman.

Jimmy enjoyed a carefree life and loved spending time with family and friends. He had a quick wit and loved to make people laugh. Music was his passion. Bob Segar and CCR were some of his favorites and Against the Wind was his favorite song.

He is survived by one sister Peggy Huffman of Greenup, Kentucky; two nieces Kimberly Rothenstine and Leigh Ann Huffman both of Greenup, Kentucky; a host of great and great-great nieces and nephews; dear friends Kenny Belford, Dexter Via, and David Neace.

Vicky Cales Adkins, 69, of Lloyd, Kentucky, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 18, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Vicky was born November 8, 1956, in Montgomery County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Norman and Kathleen Moore Cales.

In addition to her parents she was preceded, in death by her husband Grover Adkins; two brothers Eddie Cales and Ralph Gary Cales; three sisters Kaye Billups, Beverly Cales, and Toni Cales-Clay; a sister-in-law Connie Martin.

Vicky was a 1974 graduate of Greenup County High School. She was a founding Board Member for the Lloyd Volunteer Fire Department, retiring from the board in February of 2025. She was the owner of the former Adkins Market in Lloyd, Kentucky for over 20 years. Vicky also attended First Baptist Church of Lloyd for many years where she enjoyed working in the kitchen during vacation Bible school. She always looked forward to Monday evening Bible Study and the special outings with the ladies.

She is survived by two daughters Melinda (Ron Horn) White and Terra Adkins, both of Lloyd, Kentucky; three grandchildren Cameron White, MeKynna White, and Paige White; a sister-in-law Trina (Earl) Kirk; a brother-in-law Pete Martin; a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00pm, Friday, April 24, 2026, at Reed Funeral Home in Greenup by Pastor Rusty Foster. Burial will be in Brick Union Cemetery in Lloyd. Ross O’Dell Daugherty III, of Lenoir City, Tennessee, formerly of Flatwoods, Kentucky, passed away April 9, 2026, at Foothills Rehabilitation and Nursing Care in Maryville, Tennessee from a long courageous fight with cancer. Ross was born June 15, 1960, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Ross O’Dell II and Janet Austin Daugherty.

Ross was a 1978 graduate of Russell High School. Following graduation, he became a Master Plumber and dedicated many years to working throughout the Tri-State area. In later years, Ross started bidding on and purchasing abandoned storage units, turning it into a hobby he truly enjoyed. He also spent his last few years raising peacocks. Ross loved to travel and cherished the time he spent with Deb, creating lasting memories with friends along the way. He enjoyed fishing and gold panning in small rivers and creeks. Anyone who knew Ross understood what a truly special person he was: kind, funny, caring, and strong. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Ross is survived by his companion and best friend of 25 years Deb McCabe; a son Ryan Daugherty of Ashland, Kentucky; two daughters Athena (Matthew) Marvin of Seattle, Washington and Sara (Joe) Lintner-Houck of Lenoir City, Tennessee; three brothers Tim (Molly) Daugherty of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Lance (Beverly) Daugherty of Flatwoods, Kentucky, and Shanye Daugherty of Columbus, Ohio; two sisters Debbie (David) Wurts of Georgetown, Kentucky and Cindi (Alan) Virgin of Flatwoods, Kentucky; seven grandchildren Lane Lintner, Ledger Houck, Rhianna Roar, Luke Roar, Ayden Roar, Alexis Daugherty, Madison Daugherty; a host of nieces, nephews, and countless friends who loved him dearly.

William Boyd Hurst, 75, of Lloyd, Kentucky, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at UK Kings Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. William was born January 13, 1951, in Lloyd, Kentucky, a son of the late Cecil William Sr. and Ada Prater Hurst.

William was a United States Vietnam Army Veteran. He was retired from the Corps of Engineers where he worked as a Master Derrick Boat Operator. He enjoyed working with and riding horses, farming, baling hay, and fishing. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Dwayne Hurst; a great-grandson Dwayne M. Hurst and a brother Cecil Hurst Jr.

He is survived by his wife Elizabeth Buckley Hurst; two sons William “Buddy” Hurst and Steven (Jennifer) Hurst both of Lloyd, Kentucky; two brothers Kenny Hurst and Wayne Hurst both of Lloyd, Kentucky; four sisters Brenda Kay Truitt, Ina Chapman, Opal Hurst all of Lloyd, Kentucky and Rebecca (Jimmy) Baker of Greenup, Kentucky; six grandchildren Micheal Hurst, Corey Hurst, Wyatt Rhoden, Abbey McBrayer, Alycen Hurst, and Tyler (Litisha) Hurst; two great-grandchildren Lilith and Levi Hurst; a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Benjamin “Benji” Joe Cox, 53, of Ashland, Kentucky passed away peacefully on March 27, 2026, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Kentucky. Benji was born on June 21, 1972, a son of Genevieve Rice and the late Larry R. Cox. He was a man known for his warm spirit and kind heart—someone who truly never met a stranger. Those who knew him will always remember his easygoing nature and his favorite saying, “Fair to middling.”

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his step father Steve Swimm and his
sister Lisa Cox.

In addition to his loving mother he is survived by his life partner Nancy Hicks; three children Nicholas Sheffield, Kourtney Harris, and Savannah Stambaugh; stepson
Steven Stambaugh; siblings, Larry R. Cox II, Kristi L. Swimm, Misty Cox, Mitchell Cox; and eight grandchildren. Special people in Benjamin’s life included Terri Prince, Brook Prince, Rikki Picklesimer and Joe Jarrell who held a meaningful place in his heart.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Assembly of God Church, 525 Blackburn
Avenue, Ashland, Kentucky 41101, on Tuesday, April 7th from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
