Here's what a postpartum eval at Fortis actually looks like.

One on one in a private treatment room, we begin with a conversation about your pregnancy, your birth, your symptoms, and what you actually want to get back to. From there we assess what the body is communicating, which may include an internal exam, strength and mobility assessment, breathing mechanics, diastasis assessment, scar mobility, and how your body manages pressure and load during functional movement.

We explain what we find, start building your home program, and map out a plan together based on what your body actually needs and you want to achieve!

If your doctor mentioned prolapse and you left that appointment with more questions than answers, this one's for you.

It's more common than you think and more treatable than the internet will have you believe.

Alright, so you figured out how to work around it.

You wear dark leggings that don’t show p*e stains. You know the bathroom map. You figured out how to carefully modify a burp*e. You’ve learned to laugh a little more carefully with your legs always crossed.

You’ve gotten really good at managing it. Great, buttttttt managing and healing are not the same thing. And just because you found a workaround doesn’t mean you want to do this for the rest of your life.

I don’t care if you’re 30 or 60, you should feel strong when you move. You should be able to trust your body. You should want more than a system of adaptations you built around a problem that’s actually treatable. You should be able to participate in your own dang life.
That’s what pelvic floor therapy is for. We look beyond just symptom management, get to the heart of the matter, and actually get you results.

Leaking during workouts isn’t a reason to stop working out. I know it feels like the safest move. But avoiding the things that make you leak just keeps you stuck. Your body can be trained to handle the load.

If you've been doing Kegels forever and still leaking, you can stop...

Kegels aren't always the answer. They're often done incorrectly. And even when we do need to incorporate them, doing a bunch while just chilling on the couch with a cup of coffee isn't going to do a thing.

Leaking during exercise can come from weakness, yes. But it can also come from tension, from a pelvic floor that's already holding on for dear life and is tired. It can come from how you breathe during a heavy lift, how pressure moves through your body mid-run, or coordination patterns that are a bit wonky.

Two people can come in with the same symptom but need completely different treatment approaches.

That's why a real evaluation matters. Sure, you can try a generic youtube routine or protocol, and if that works for you, amazing! But, if you're still not getting results, you need some extra support.

Your pelvic floor is part of a bigger system. It needs the ability to lengthen and contract and support you during a variety of activities and movements. Understanding that system is where actual progress begins and you finally see results.

🙋‍♀️ Drop one below if Kegels weren't the fix for you either.
