Modesto Warren Gilstrap, 62, of Arlington, Texas, departed this life on July 18, 2026.

A memorial celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, August 1st at St. John Missionary Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M.

Modesto was born to James Gilstrap and Erma Dell Wilkerson Gilstrap on January 22, 1964, in Greenville, Texas. He was a devoted father, loving grandfather, caring uncle, protective brother, and loyal friend.

He leaves to cherish his memories his children, DeAndre Hill, Denise Gilstrap, Modesto Gilstrap, Jr, and Warren Gilstrap; his siblings Ila Christine Stephens, Richard Gilstrap, and Billy Gilstrap; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Modesto is preceded in death by his parents, Erma and James Gilstrap; two sisters, Paula Denise Gilstrap Anderson and Jeanette Yvonne Gilstrap Smith; and seven brothers Alton Wilkerson, Willis Reed Wilkerson, Cleveland Leroy Wilkerson, Oscar James Gilstrap, Johnny Charles Gilstrap, Talmadge Gilstrap, and Johnny Howard.

Dakota Moore, lovingly known as Cody by his family and Slim by his friends, passed away on July 7, 2026, at the age of 30.

Born and raised in Greenville, Texas, Cody was known throughout the community by so many who loved and cared for him. All the while Cody was battling his own demons. He will be remembered for his kind heart and gentle spirit. He never met a stranger nor ever wished harm on anyone.

Cody was a son, brother, grandson, uncle, and friend. He found joy in the simple things in life, and anyone who knew him knew of his love for a cold Dr Pepper. His smile, sense of humor, and caring nature will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his mother, Amanda; his grandmother, Virginia; his aunt, Regina; his brothers and sisters, Toby, Jeremy, Ashley, and Ambrea; and his 13 beloved nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved dearly.

Cody was preceded in death by his grandfather, Billy, and his uncle, Billy Andrew.

Though his time with us was far too short, Cody’s memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and the Greenville community that knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

The month of July is recognized globally as Bereaved Parents Awareness Month, a dedicated time to honor, support, and raise awareness for mothers and fathers who have endured the devastating loss of a child. And sometimes, we just don’t know what to say….

How to address and behave appropriately with Love & Integrity ….

Only parents who have lost their children understand how it feels to lose a child. Think before you speak to a bereaved parent and inadvertently saying something offensive like, Oh, yeah, you are ‘that’ Mom.

It’s ok to say the child’s name, as parents want to hear their child’s name spoken. Be the first to say their name and let the other person know it is okay for them to say their name too, as often, people are afraid they will upset the parent by talking about them. This allows for conversation and positive mental health healing.

Sharing stories of them with others soothes their parent’s hearts to know of their experiences with others.

The pain of a broken heart is real

To know what it means to have a broken heart, you actually feel your heart in pain, not a heart attack, but a dull ache that will last for a while. There are days where you feel your emotions overwhelm you.

Take time to live in the moment

Take the time to be in the moment. In random moments of tears, take time to stop, cry, and breathe. You will feel dysregulated in your emotions/feelings, like being on a rollercoaster, or riding a wave, and this will calm down after a while.

Know that grief is a lifetime process and journey

Your grief does not simply end. There is no miraculous ending to your grief and there should not be an expectation that you will no longer grieve. Grieving endures throughout a lifetime and you will think, if I would have, I should have.

Celebrate their life and enjoy the memories

Celebrate their life. It is okay to celebrate them, keeping their memory alive like perhaps on a favorite holiday, every year celebrate by doing an activity your child would’ve enjoyed.

Remember that it is okay to laugh and enjoy the memories you have of them.

Know that you are not alone

There will be many people around until after the funeral. It can be as if a massive amount of people just disappear, yet there will be some that hang around. Know that you are not alone, when friends offer to help, allow them, as this is often the only way they know how to support you.

Locate the resources you need

When you are ready, locate the resources you need, not what others think you need.

Larry Joe Grant, a true jack of all trades who wore many hats throughout his life, passed away peacefully June 15, 2026. He was born on November 17, 1960, in Henderson, Texas, to Oddie Mae Grant and TJ Alexander.

Larry accepted Christ at an early age, establishing a foundation of faith that guided him through life. He attended Caddo Mills Schools and went on to live a life defined by hard work, dedication, and a love for his community.

For over 20 years, Larry worked as a truck driver, though his talents extended far beyond the road. He was a skilled mechanic, poured concrete, and worked at the Co-op Gin in Farmersville, Texas, among many other trades. There wasn't much Larry couldn't fix or do.
Outside of work, Larry was known for his vibrant spirit. He loved working on cars and trucks, fishing, and dancing. He truly never met a stranger, and he possessed a massive heart—always ready to lift a hand wherever and whenever it was needed.

Larry is survived by three sisters, Arma Grant Brown(Greenville,Texas), Mary Grant(Caddo Mills,Texas) , a stepson, Melvin Toliver(Greenville, Texas); Six nephews, Lakeith Grant,Michael Grant,De’Marcus Grant,Jerome Grant,Daniel Brown and Tra’Mayne Brown; Five nieces, Olivia Grant,Jasmine Eubank,Brittany Brown, Dominique Brown and Sophia Brown ; a Uncle Bobby Grant, a step grandson, Demtri Toliver and several great nieces and nephews.

Timothy Sweet was born September 17, 1948 to R.T. Sweet and Edith Mae Wolford Sweet in Ladonia Texas. He attend Clark Elementary and graduated from Fannidel High School.

He married Patricia Gholston on February 14, 1969 and in this union came a daughter Twana Sweet. Currently reside in Dallas, Tx. He then married Doris Hackett and from this union came Bernard Hackett (Fort Worth, Tx) and Cedric Sweet (deceased).

He departed life on June 02, 2026. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters. He leaves to mourn, his children, Twana Sweet and Bernard Hackett of , brother Johnny Sweet of Crockett, Tx and a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives and friends.
