Monica Cross was born in Greenville, NC. She is currently obtaining a degree from East Carolina University pursuing a B.S. in Biology. Meet Kamilah! 🎉

She was born in Durham, NC, and is currently pursuing an MS in Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Neuroscience at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University. Kamilah already holds a BS in Neuroscience and a BA in Psychology, both from ECU. She joined the lab in September 2024 and began her academic program just a month earlier, in August 2024.

Her research focuses on developing a stem cell model of Parkinson’s Disease. Outside the lab, Kamilah enjoys spending time with friends, watching movies, and hitting the gym.

Dr. Wu delivered a platform presentation titled 'Prenatal Arsenic Exposure Impairs Early Heart Development: Cardiac Organoid as a Model' at the 8th Annual Meeting of the U.S. DOHaD Society on October 15, 2024. This project was partially supported by the ECU Faculty Reassignment Award (FY2024) and a Travel Award from the NIEHS P30 Center at NCSU (CHHE). We're thrilled to announce the presentation was selected as the Best Abstract of the conference! 🎉
