Sometimes we need more than a reminder to “be strong.” We need a safe place to be honest about what we’re carrying.

At Path of Purpose Counseling, I believe faith and mental health can work together. Therapy can be a space to process anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, and the places where you feel stuck—without judgment.

Thank you to our local news team for the opportunity to discuss the important role families, communities, and mental health professionals play in supporting our youth. Meaningful change begins with open conversations, healthy relationships, and shared responsibility.

Greenville police are preparing to enforce a downtown teen curfew after social media posts calling for teens to gather led to multiple fights last weekend. Now, a mental health professional is commenting on social media’s role in the fights.

As a therapist, I spend a lot of time talking with others about self-care, coping skills, and taking care of our mental health. The truth is, some days I have to intentionally practice those things myself.

After a challenging day, I'm choosing a small act of self-care: a healthy, dairy-free smoothie. Nothing fancy, nothing life-changing—just a simple micro reset.

Mental health isn't only about what happens in our minds. It's also about how we care for our bodies. The food we eat, our hydration, our movement, and our rest all play a role in how we feel emotionally and physically.

Sometimes self-care looks like a therapy session, a walk outside, or a conversation with someone you trust. Other times, it's as simple as nourishing your body with something that helps you feel a little more grounded.

Small choices matter. Small resets matter.

What's one healthy micro reset you've given yourself this week? 💚

This hits on something important: so many people are constantly pouring into work, screens, and everyone else’s lives that they rarely pause to check in with themselves.
But emptiness isn’t always laziness or lack of motivation. Sometimes it’s exhaustion, disconnection, grief, burnout, or unmet emotional needs. Healing often starts by slowing down long enough to ask: How am I really doing?

Take the time to check in with yourself today and practice self care.

🌊 Healing Comes in Waves 🌊

Some days feel calm.
Some feel heavy.
Some feel like you’re barely keeping your head above water.

Healing is rarely a straight path, it moves in waves. Grief, anxiety, growth, change, and even hope can come and go unexpectedly. That doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means you’re human.

Just like the ocean, emotions rise and fall. The goal isn’t to stop the waves, it’s learning how to move through them with support, strength, and grace.
No matter what season you’re in, you don’t have to navigate it alone. 💙

Find your path forward, one wave at a time.

Koral is such an amazing provider who takes time to teach her patients about how their health and the food that they consume has an impact on their physical, mental, and emotional health.
She also loves Jesus and adds the spiritual perspective into her practice.

Mental Health Awareness Month reminds us that healing matters — emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.

As Christians, we are called to carry one another’s burdens, show compassion, and remind people they are never alone. Struggling with anxiety, depression, burnout, grief, or emotional pain does not make someone weak in faith. Sometimes healing looks like prayer, community, rest, and therapy working together.

God cares deeply about our hearts and minds:
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” – 1 Peter 5:7

This month, let’s normalize checking on people, seeking support, and extending grace, both to others and ourselves. Healing is not a lack of faith; sometimes it is an act of faith.

There’s something special about having a space where you can just *be*.

This is a little glimpse into my office—where stories are shared, healing begins, and growth is nurtured. This space is here for you to feel safe, heard, and supported.

Taking the first step can feel hard, but you don’t have to do it alone. 🤍

If you’ve been thinking about starting counseling, this is your reminder that a place like this is waiting for you.

Easter is more than a moment—it’s a message of deep, unshakable hope. ✝️🌿

Hope that even when life feels heavy, it isn’t the end of your story.
Hope that what feels broken can be restored.
Hope that the pain you carry today can give way to healing tomorrow.

In mental health, we walk through real struggles—anxiety, grief, burnout, and seasons where it’s hard to see the light. But Easter reminds us that light *always* returns. That even after the darkest night, resurrection still comes.

You may not feel “okay” today—and that’s okay. Hope doesn’t require perfection. Sometimes it looks like taking one small step, choosing to keep going, or simply believing that things can get better, even if you can’t see how yet.

Because of Jesus, hope is alive.
Because of Jesus, your story isn’t over.
Because of Jesus, healing is possible.

Holding space for both your pain and your hope this Easter. 💛
