Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever.

Today, Greenwich EMS joins our community in remembering the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families forever changed, and the first responders and civilians whose courage and selflessness defined one of the darkest days in our nation’s history.

For those of us in EMS and public safety, September 11 carries a deeply personal meaning. We remember the firefighters, police officers, EMS professionals, dispatchers, healthcare workers, and countless others who ran toward danger when so many others were trying to escape it.

We also remember that the impact of that day did not end when the smoke cleared. Twenty-five years later, responders and survivors continue to face illnesses and losses connected to their service and exposure at Ground Zero.

Here in Greenwich, we are proud to stand alongside our fellow first responders and the community we serve in honoring that legacy. The values demonstrated on September 11 — service, courage, compassion, sacrifice, and unity — remain at the heart of what it means to serve others.

To those we lost, to those who answered the call, and to the families who continue to carry their memory:

**Greenwich EMS remembers. We will never forget.**

From our beginning in 1986 to the organization we are today, Greenwich EMS has continued to grow, adapt, and serve.

Our equipment, training, and capabilities have changed dramatically over the past 40 years, but our mission has remained constant: to be there for our community when every second matters.

This video honors those who built Greenwich EMS, those who serve today, and those who will carry our mission forward.

We are proud of where we started, proud of how far we have come, and proud to say:

We are Greenwich EMS.

This footage, recorded on our first day of service in 1986, offers a look back at where it all began. While our equipment, capabilities, and organization have grown tremendously, our mission has remained the same: to provide exceptional emergency medical care whenever Greenwich needs us.

Today, we celebrate the generations of employees, volunteers, supporters, and community members who have helped make 40 years of service possible.

Join us today at 1:00 PM at Greenwich Town Hall as we raise the Greenwich EMS flag in recognition of this milestone.
