Parents, we naturally celebrate when our babies roll, sit, crawl, stand, and walk.
But there’s another piece of development I want parents to pay attention to:
How is your child moving?
Are they using both sides of their body?
Do they consistently favor one side?
Do they seem comfortable moving in different directions?
Milestones tell us what your child can do.
Movement patterns can tell us more about how they’re doing it.
This isn’t about comparing your child to another child.
It’s about noticing your child’s unique movement patterns and asking questions when something catches your attention.

Here’s something I want parents to start noticing when their baby is moving.
Number one: symmetry. Are they using both sides of their body?
Number two: movement variety. Can they move and explore different positions?
Number three: preferences. Do they consistently turn, reach, or move toward one side?
You don’t need to obsess over every movement.
Simply becoming an observer of your child’s movement can help you notice patterns.
And when you have questions, that’s exactly what your child’s healthcare team is there for.

Yes, we celebrate when our little ones learn to roll, sit, crawl, stand, and walk.

But how your child moves matters, too.

As parents, it can be helpful to notice things like:
👶 Does your baby use both sides of their body?
👶 Do they seem comfortable moving in different directions?
👶 Do they consistently favor one side?
👶 Do they avoid certain movements or positions?
👶 Does crawling look very different from what you expected?

Every child develops at their own pace, but movement patterns can give us valuable information about how a child is developing.

The goal isn't to compare your child to another child. It's simply to pay attention, notice patterns, and ask questions when something doesn't seem quite right.

If you're a parent in the Greenwood or Kosciusko area and you've noticed something about the way your child moves that has you wondering, let's talk. 💛

What milestone are you celebrating with your little one right now?

One thing I want people to understand about chiropractic adjustments:

Care should be individualized.

Your needs aren’t necessarily the same as your spouse’s, your parents’, or your children’s.

That’s especially important when working with multigenerational families.

What’s your biggest question about chiropractic adjustments?
