You’ve been looking forward to this trip for months. The hotels are booked, the itinerary is packed, and everyone is ready to go. 🙌🏻

And then day two hits and your back is screaming from the flight, nobody slept well in the unfamiliar bed, and you’re running on airport food and adrenaline wondering why vacation feels so exhausting. 🥴

Travel is a lot of input for your body to process all at once - long stretches of sitting, different time zones, richer food, more walking than usual, and a schedule that changes by the hour. Even when it’s fun, your body is working hard to keep up with all of it.

A few simple things that make a real difference:

👟 moving your body every day, even if it’s just a walk between activities

If you’ve ever felt a sharp, shooting pain that starts in your low back and travels down through your hip, glute, or leg - you already know there’s nothing quite like it. 😬

Sciatica is one of those things that can go from mildly annoying to completely debilitating without much warning. And for a lot of people, it becomes something they just learn to manage rather than something they actually address.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body, running from the lower spine all the way down through the leg. When something puts pressure on that nerve - whether it’s a misaligned vertebra, tight surrounding muscles, inflammation, or changes during pregnancy - it creates that very specific, hard to ignore sensation most people describe as sciatica.

It can feel like:

• a sharp or burning pain that shoots from the low back into the hip or leg

• numbness or tingling that travels down one side

• weakness in the leg or foot that makes certain movements difficult

• pain that gets worse with sitting, standing for long periods, or certain positions

• that deep ache in the glute that never fully goes away no matter how much you stretch

What most people don’t realize is that managing the pain without addressing what’s actually driving it rarely creates lasting relief.

Can you believe it? Six months ago, many of us set goals, made plans, and envisioned what 2026 would look like. Some things have gone exactly as planned, and some have taken unexpected turns.

Kids are taking in SO much more than we realize. 🧠

Every new environment, every big emotion, every overstimulating afternoon - their nervous system is constantly working to organize all of that input and help them respond to the world around them.

When kids are regulating well, they’re usually able to handle the ups and downs of the day without getting completely overwhelmed by them.

When the nervous system becomes overloaded, you start noticing things that can seem completely unrelated at first:

• meltdowns that feel way bigger than the situation calls for 😅

• a child who suddenly can’t seem to wind down at night

• more sensitivity to noise, crowds, or busy environments

• recurring ear infections, digestive issues, or immune challenges

• coordination or developmental changes that are hard to put your finger on

Those patterns are often signs that the nervous system is carrying more than it can comfortably process.

The last day of school hits and suddenly everything changes. The schedule that kept everyone (somewhat) on track for nine months? Gone. Bedtimes are a suggestion. Meals happen whenever. And the days somehow feel both longer and more chaotic at the same time. 🤪

Summer is wonderful, but the transition into it is still a big adjustment for both you and your kids, even when it’s completely welcome! Your nervous system relies on familiar rhythms and patterns, so when everything shifts at once, it takes time for the body to adjust.

That adjustment can look like:

• your kid who used to fall asleep easily now taking forever to settle at night

• energy crashes hitting at random times with no real explanation

• patience running out way earlier than you’d like to admit 😬

• needing more quiet moments just to feel like yourself again

A big shift in routine affects the body more than most people realize, even when it’s a positive change.

The pool bags are packed, the schedules have officially loosened up, and somehow the days feel both longer and fuller at the same time. Summer is here and we are ready for it. ☀️

But before the season gets completely away from you, it’s worth taking a second to think about what’s going to help your body actually handle all of it - because summer is wonderful and also genuinely a lot. 😅

A few simple habits that make a big difference all season long:

🍉 Hydrate smarter - Warmer weather and more time outside mean your body needs more than just water. Watermelon, cucumber, citrus, and coconut water are all easy ways to replenish minerals while enjoying the best of summer produce.

🌿 Eat with the season - Summer gives you some of the most nutrient-dense foods of the year. Fresh berries, leafy greens, avocado, grilled fish, and herbs like basil and mint are simple ways to nourish your body without overcomplicating it.

🚶 Keep moving - Evening walks, swimming, bike rides, backyard play - summer makes movement feel less like a chore and more like just...living. Lean into that!

🧠 Stay consistent with your care - Summer schedules shift fast. Travel, camps, and spontaneous plans have a way of crowding out the routines that keep you feeling good. Memorial Day is a day to pause and remember the men and women who gave their lives in service to this country - and the families who continue to carry that loss every single day.

It’s a reminder of sacrifice, courage, and a level of selflessness that most of us will never fully understand.

To those who have lost someone in service - your grief is seen, your loved one is remembered, and their sacrifice is deeply honored.

To those who have served and continue to serve - we are grateful for you in ways words don’t quite cover.
