What a month full of fun! Today we went to the Oregon State Fair for AL! Had our memory care support group where we announced our time capsule and passed out some “forget me nots”. We had a wheels and walkers wash and polished up our equipment. We enjoyed listening to our newest musician who wonderfully played and taught us about the trumpet. For treats we even enjoyed root beer floats and soft serve ice cream. We have done it all, and we can’t wait for what’s next!

Mahalo nui loa to our “tourists” today! You might’ve heard ‘Ono loa! (delicious) or ‘Ōkole maluna! (cheers) at the table, and that’s because we had an incredible celebration! A hui hou kākou, we can’t wait to have you back!

We made it just in time to see the peak blossoms at The Portland Rose Garden! We got to see over 10,000 rose bushes that represent more than 650 rose varieties. Did you know roses are one of the oldest flowers dating back at least 35 million years? It is also the U.S.’s national flower, and our “City of Roses” properly represents that.

And throwback to our recent trip to Pittock Mansion- as the Portland Rose Society was founded by Georgina Pittock and her backyard rose show; and this is what eventually inspired our cities first annual Rose Festival. Though our cities nickname predates her, she did popularize and cement it.

Our obsession with roses here actually started back during the 1905 Lewis and Clark Centennial Exposition, where our city planted thousands of roses along its streets to impress visitors. Perhaps early acts of Hospitality and Tourism like this are a reason Portland is so renowned today. There’s a little history lesson for us all!

The Sandy Fish Hatchery was a nice way to end our week- it’s amazing how many tiny fish can share one small pond!

It was a really hot day! Also, the perfect chance to have a little pool party in the courtyard; So pour yourself some freshly made lemonade, sit back, and have a soak with us over at Stephanie Gardens!

We had the most wonderful evening at Blue Lake Regional Park- We got to play in the water for a little bit, soak up some sunshine, and check out the community garden!
