Comment “checklist” below and we will send you our super handy toddler talking milestone checklist! We recommend it to all families.

It will help you know which skills come first (they build on each other!) and the talking & understanding milestones to watch for as you child grows.
⁣
🤔 We’re not exactly sure where it came from, but as parents we seem to get the message that the important things to teach our kids are colors, numbers, and letters. ⁣
⁣
These skills are important, but they actually come pretty naturally for children when they are developmentally ready and oftentimes we push little ones wayyyyy too early. ⁣

🤩 So, while they’re little, let’s focus on helping them learn words like the ones listed on the right can help them communicate with others and get their needs met. ⁣

💛 Some kids are naturally really interested in letters, colors, and numbers at an early age And if that’s the case, of course nurture those interests and strengths!

This is such a powerful reminder that communication comes in many forms. A child using a communication device is not “less verbal” — they are communicating in the way that works best for them. Every child deserves the chance to be heard, included, and celebrated. Way to go Grayson!

Using more comments and fewer questions helps children build vocabulary naturally instead of feeling quizzed.

Using more comments and fewer questions helps children build vocabulary naturally instead of feeling quizzed.

Some kids LOVE answering questions and chatting.

For other kids, especially those with delayed/difficulty with communication, being asked tons of questions is overwhelming.

Notice a child becoming overwhelmed by, ignoring, or uncomfortable with questions? That’s okay! You can model the language or make comments instead! This gives kids a low-pressure opportunity to learn communication skills, make connections, and speak if they are able/want to.

Great info-

If you have a child who elopes, you qualify for a disabled parking placard to help maintain their safety.

You just never know when overstimulation will happen or when elopement behaviors will occur — so being close to an establishment is something your child deserves.

First step, visit your local dmv to obtain the form.

Take it to your pediatrician to have them fill out.

Take back to dmv with child’s social security card.

I went to the dmv 3 separate times trying for this, so I figured I’d save someone else the headache in knowing what you need.

**make sure pediatrician fills out the entirety of the form or you’ll be making more trips

My son deserves to explore where he wants to and be comfortable in this world. If he needs to leave an establishment for a sensory reason, he has the right to be parked close. Due to his high elopement risk, he has the right to be close. 🤎
