When your days are hassle-free, you have time to swing by the pool room and play a couple of games. The dogs in the painting overlooking the table seem to be taking things a bit more seriously, but they aren’t living an everyday vacation like our residents are.

Highlands Hall recently hosted a smoothie spectacular, where residents were welcome to sip some strawberry sweetness. The sweltering August heat was no match for our icy AC and the cold smoothies.

Domino's Pizza started in 1960, when brothers Tom and James bought a pizza store called DomiNick’s... Wait. Wait just one hot second. I think there’s been a mix-up; yes, I’m getting word from my source that this post is actually about the game of dominoes, not pizza. Ahem, well, here at Drummond’s Lounge we regularly host several gaming groups, and dominoes is a crowd favorite.

Our MacKinnon community art class used alcohol ink markers to add vibrant color to an image reminiscent of the 1905 painting “Flowers In A Vase With One Handle” by artist Odilon Redon. Creating art projects can reduce stress, give a sense of accomplishment and help to build hand-eye coordination.

No mistakes here, just happy little accidents. Residents gathered for a Paint and Sip event and let the one and only Bob Ross guide their brushes to artistic greatness. Letting Bob's iconic voice gently remind us that in our own worlds we can do whatever makes us happy and that every tree could use a friend fit the relaxed vibe perfectly.

We appreciate the members of The Water's Edge church who participated in their WE Serve initiative and joined our MacKinnon community to work on crafts and visit with residents. Maintaining social connections and working on creative group projects are important pieces of our approach to memory care.
