Jerry “Jinx” Jean Watson
May 5, 1936 – October 15, 2026

Jerry was born on May 5, 1936, at the Stork Retreat in Gridley, California, to
Lucille Kavisvick and Walter L. Owen.
In her early years, Jerry spent her childhood between Vashon Island,
Washington, and Gridley, California. She shared many fond memories with her lifelong
childhood friend, Rosie Didricksen. Their friendship lasted throughout their lives and
was filled with laughter and many hijinks.
Jerry met the love of her life, Henry Lake Watson, in Vashon and moved to
Gridley. They married on June 2, 1956, and raised their three children—Eileen, Debra,
and Kenneth—while making their home in the area. The love that she had for her
children went beyond that of a traditional parent and child relationship. Her children
were her best friends who she talked with daily throughout their lives. She was their
rock and biggest supporter through all their life experiences.
Over the years, Jerry was an integral part of the Gridley community in many
ways. She spent many years working at Baker’s Cafe alongside her dear sister-in-law
Kay Baker, affectionately known as “Aunt Kaky.” She also worked for many years at the
McNeal and Libby Cannery. Jerry drove rice trucks for various rice growers and spent
countless hours supporting the agricultural community.

Jerry enjoyed the outdoors and especially loved fishing, camping, working in the
yard, and spending time with her family. Her family cherishes many wonderful memories
of camping at their old Bangor property and playing horseshoes at family gatherings.
She also loved her pets, and many loyal dogs became additional members of the family.
She especially loved Boston Terriers and English Bulldogs.
She is survived by her children, Debra Debra (Dan) Dosser, Eileen Oakley, and
Kenneth Watson; her grandchildren, Travis Dosser, Shawnee Walters, Lindsay (Allen)
Bowen, Joey (Tonya) Watson, and Jody (Jimmy) Ross; and her great-grandchildren,
Austin Howard (Alana), Brittany Klein, Josh Jr Klein, Emilee Ross, Kyle Watson, Lukas
Horn, Ethan Ross, and Ella Ross. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lucille and Walter; her siblings, Eddie
and Alyce; her husband, Henry “Hank”; her dear friend, Rosie; and her grandson,
William.
Jerry will be remembered as a strong woman with a big heart, full of love for her
family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. Her legacy will
continue to live on through her children, grandchildren and dear friends.

A private celebration of life for family and dear friends will be held on Wednesday,
October 21, 2026.

Arlene Grein
September 27, 1937- September 24, 2026

Marie Arlene Perry was born on September 27, 1937 in Biggs, California to Gabe and Mary
Perry. Arlene was the eldest of four children. She was preceded in death by her parents and her
siblings Gene Perry and Dorothy Steeves.
Arlene and Richard Grein were high school sweethearts who were married Valentine’s Day
1960. Arlene was known for her chatty and friendly personality. Her report cards noted her
talkativeness early on. She would mention there was no such thing as a stranger, just a friend
she hadn’t met yet.
Arlene loved her big, boisterous family and cherished her Portuguese roots. Being raised on a
dairy farm instilled a love of animals in Arlene from an early age. Arlene was also known for her
green thumb. She loved spending time in her garden and especially had an affinity for roses.
She also adored spending time at the family cabin in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
Arlene was a pillar of the Biggs community. She spent time working at a local bank. She and
Richard were the proprietors of Grein’s Market on B Street until the early 1990s. Arlene valued
history and antiques. She ran an antique shop out of Hastings House, now called The Victorian
Rose. As a lover of history, Arlene became the custodian of local and family history with photos,
artifacts, and stories going back hundreds of years. Deeply involved in a local sorority (Beta
Sigma Phi), Holy Trinity Association (HTA), and garden club, Arlene’s knowledge led to her
working for a summer at a local garden center.
Arlene passed away peacefully at home just days before her 89th birthday on September 24,
2026. She is survived by husband Richard, children Rachael Mattingly, Doug Grein, and Guy
Grein, granddaughters Meghan Stone and Amelia Mattingly, great-grandchildren Harper and
Rhett Stone, and brother John Perry.
In lieu of gifts please plant a plant and make a friend. Please also consider donating to the
Alzheimer’s Association as a tribute to Arlene Grein, and joining the Grein Family by
participating in the Alzheimer’s Association's 2026 Walk to End Alzheimer’s in honor of Arlene
on October 17th in Chico’s Bidwell Park.
Those who knew and loved her are welcome to a celebration of life for Arlene that will be held at
The Victorian Rose (429 B Street in Biggs), Thursday, October 1st at 12pm. Please wear florals
in honor of Arlene and the garden of friends she cultivated.

Gridley schools, graduating from Gridley High School. Following graduation, he joined the United States
Navy in 1963, attending boot camp in Great Lakes, Illinois.
Following boot camp, Bob married the love of his life, Juanita. They were married on September 23rd of
the same year. Shortly after they were married, Bob was stationed at Millington Naval Base in
Tennessee. There they enjoyed the arrival of the first of their three children, Vicki Marie. After

welcomed their second child Robert Efton “Bob”.
Bob was honorably discharged in 1967 and went to work for Boeing Airlines in Seattle Washington as a

Sherry Marie Little, née Reeves, 79, of Gridley, California, passed away peacefully in
her sleep on May 25, 2026. She was born on August 23, 1946, at the Stork Retreat in
Gridley to Robert and Florence (née English) Reeves. At 19, she married her high
school sweetheart, and together they shared 61 years of marriage. More than anything,
Sherry was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who poured her love
into the people around her. She is survived by her beloved husband, Brent Carter Little;
her children, Brian Little and Bethany (George) Johnson; her grandchildren, Cayenne
Johnson, Ginger Johnson, George Wesley Johnson IV (“Bodi”), and Sage Johnson; and
Brian’s longtime partner, Elizabeth Petteys, and her daughter, Alexandra Petteys.
Sherry was known for her fun sense of style, infectious laugh, iconic hairstyles, love of
Diet Pepsi and dogs (especially Gracie and Rocky) and the kind of patience that
seemed to have no end. She was hardworking, strong, and rarely complained. She
found joy in going to concerts, reading mystery novels, traveling, collecting antique
furniture and salt and pepper shakers, shopping, giving thoughtful gifts, and spending
time with family and friends. Her grandchildren were among the greatest joys of her life,
and she especially loved watching them perform. She also had many nieces and
nephews, as well as “adopted” nieces and nephews, whom she loved like her own. The
memories she made with them over the years were among the many treasures of her
life.
For many years, Sherry worked with children as a teacher’s aide in the Gridley School
District. The love she gave and the difference she made stayed with her students long
after they left her classroom, as shown by the many cards, letters, and graduation
announcements she continued to receive over the years. She also spent many years
working for various doctors as a dispensing optician. But every summer, she became
“La Patrona” in the family’s peach orchard, where she managed the harvest crew with
the same strength, humor, and grit that defined so much of her life.

A viewing will be held at Gridley-Block Funeral Chapel, 679 Ohio Street, Gridley,
California 95948, on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will
follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Walter G. Little Pavilion, located behind the Liberty Ward
Chapel at 1259 French Avenue, Gridley, California 95948. Sherry will be interred at
Gridley-Biggs Cemetery.

On May 12, 2026, Norman Joseph Jensen passed away peacefully with
family by his side. He was 96 years old.
Norm was born on April 30, 1930 in Belfry, Montana. He was the firstborn
child to Theron H. Jensen and Veva Johnson Jensen. The Jensen family
would grow to include a total of six sons and one daughter.
He would often share early childhood stories of growing up on a farm in
Cowley, Wyoming and riding his favorite horse, Nancy. He loved the autumn
beauty of the yellow quaking aspen trees in Wyoming. However, the winters
were brutally cold.
Norm has always had a fascination with tractors. When he was three years
old his mother took a picture of “young Norman” and his little dog sitting on
top of the large McCormick Deering tractor that was used to do the heavy
work on the farm. In 2016 Norm bought a 1939 Farmall tractor that he
restored and drove in the “Red Suspenders Day” parade in Gridley.
He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in
San Francisco, California. That was quite a departure from the small town in
Wyoming to the “big city”.
Norm taught science and math for many years at Live Oak Middle School.
He loved studying about various kinds of rocks, flying kites with his students
as they learned about the power of wind, and solving algebraic equations. He
enjoyed chaperoning the school dances and helping the students create the
decorations for the dances.
For many years, Norm also served as a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts
of America. Scouting, camping, fishing, and enjoying the beauty and wonder
of the great outdoors were some of his favorite past-times.
He was a master gardener. His plentiful and very tidy gardens of green
beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, and flowers were second to none.
Norm was the ultimate “fixer-upper”. If something was broken or worn out,
he would figure out how to repair or restore it, often in very creative ways.
His favorite sweet treat was ice cream drumsticks, no nuts please!
In February 1953, Norm married LaVora Young. They welcomed three
sons into their family-Brent, Mark, and Todd.
In October 1965, Norm married Verda Walton. From this marriage, he
inherited four daughters and two sons-Tamie, Richard, Michele, Sam, Jayne,
and Reg. Norm and Verda added one more son, Steve, to their large blended
family.
From 1992 to 1993, Norm and Verda served a mission for the Church of
Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Birmingham, Alabama.
Throughout his life Norm remained a devoted son, brother, husband,
father, grandfather, uncle, missionary, teacher, friend, and faithful disciple of
Jesus Christ. Norm loved his Savior and embraced the knowledge of eternal
families.
He is preceded in death by Theron and Veva Jensen (parents), Verda
Walton Jensen (“Honey Babe”, his wife), Eldon and Arnold Jensen (brothers),
Mark and Todd Jensen (sons), Sam Ethington Kilian (daughter), and LaVora
Young Burke (Brent, Mark, and Todd’s mother).
Norm is survived by Ed, Ken, and Grant Jensen (brothers), Linda Jensen
Moulton (sister), Brent Jensen, Rich Ethington, Reg Ethington, Steve Jensen
(sons), and Tamie Rodke Fife, Michele Dewsnup, Jayne Barrow (daughters).
His legacy also includes 33 grand children, 48 great grand children, and 5
great-great grandchildren including one due in June.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2026, 11:00 am, at the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 Spruce St., Gridley.
Interment at the Gridley Biggs Cemetery, 2023 Hwy. 99, Gridley, will be
held on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, 1:00 pm.
