A Liturgy for When Your Feelings Try to Boss You Around
“O God, You know my thoughts, my inner dialogue, the accurate and inaccurate stories I tell myself.
And I confess: Your Word is infinitely more true than the stories I so often rehearse.
When I think weakness is limiting, may I remember that You call weaknesses Christ-exalting.
When I consider suffering debilitating, may I remember that You call suffering refining.
When I see temptations as discouraging, may I remember that You call temptations defining.
When I believe trials will break me, may I remember that You call trials sanctifying.
So help me to flip the narrative about hard seasons.
Give me Your words, Your insight, Your point of view.
Take my less-than narratives and rewrite them for Yourself.
Equip my mind, steer my tongue, soften my heart, so that the words of my mouth and meditation of my beart may be pleasing to You, O God.”
Amen.
