We're so proud to celebrate our incredible volunteer, Chad Cronk, who was recently featured as a Good Neighbor in Grimes/Dallas Center Living magazine! 🐾💚

For the past four years, Chad has been bringing his rescue cocker spaniel, Lili, to Kennybrook Village each month for pet therapy visits. What started as a simple idea has grown into meaningful friendships, countless smiles, and moments of connection that brighten the lives of our residents. As Chad shares in the article, these visits don't just benefit our residents—they "recharge" him, too.

Thank you, Chad, Chrissy, and sweet Lili, for sharing your time, compassion, and hearts with our Kennybrook Village family. We're grateful for the joy you bring with every visit!

✨Staff Spotlight: Maddi Henrichs, CNA✨
Maddi Henrichs, CNA, who has been a valued member of the Kennybrook Village team for the past seven months. Through the compassionate care she provides our residents each day and the enthusiasm she brings to work, Maddi has already made a meaningful impact.

Maddi is the oldest of six siblings and lives in Grimes with her mom, stepdad, and younger sister.

Next month, Maddi will begin nursing school at DMACC, where she plans to earn her RN before transferring to the University of Iowa to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her dream is to become a NICU nurse, inspired by her younger sister's seven-month stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. Witnessing the compassion and dedication of the nurses who cared for her sister inspired Maddi to pursue a career helping the tiniest and most vulnerable patients.

When asked what she is most proud of, Maddi immediately talked about her family—especially her mom. She admires the way her mom overcame difficult circumstances, returned to college, and earned her physical therapy degree in 2022. Fun fact: her mom is now a Physical Therapist at our sister community, Cedar Ridge Village! Maddi also credits her dad, who was a farmer, with teaching her the value of hard work, compassion, and perseverance.

Outside of work, Maddi enjoys baking, reading, taking walks, riding horses, and exploring antique malls, especially the Brass Armadillo Antique Mall. She also loves returning to her hometown of Williams, Iowa, each Fourth of July to celebrate with family and the close-knit community.

When asked what she loves most about working at Kennybrook Village, Maddi's answer was simple: the people. She says the appreciation she receives from residents makes every early morning worthwhile and is what motivates her to get out of bed at 5:00 a.m. each day.

Thank you, Maddi, for the kindness, compassion, and dedication you bring to Kennybrook Village. We are excited to watch you grow as you begin nursing school and know you have a bright future ahead.💚

✨Senior Spotlight: Louis "Bud" McCrea✨
Known throughout Iowa simply as Coach Bud, Louis "Bud" McCrea has spent a lifetime inspiring others both on and off the basketball court.

Coach Bud is one of the most legendary girls' six-on-six basketball coaches in Iowa history. As one of the state's winningest high school coaches, he led the Lake View-Auburn girls to a state championship in 1976 and later coached Panorama to another state title. His remarkable career earned him a place in the Iowa High School Girls Basketball Hall of Fame.

He was married to his wife, Clarice, for 32 wonderful years. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and helping young people discover their potential.

In 1995, Bud founded McCrea International Sports, an organization that took student-athletes from Iowa on basketball tours to Australia, England, Ireland, Hawaii, and other destinations. His goal wasn't simply to play basketball—it was to broaden horizons. He wanted young people from small-town Iowa to realize that the world was full of opportunities, cultures, and experiences waiting to be explored. Through those trips, he taught his players to become ambassadors, leaders, and lifelong learners.

When asked what advice he would share, Coach Bud's answer reflects the way he coached and lived. He encouraged people to recognize both their own strengths and those of others. By understanding people, respecting their unique gifts, and working together, we all become stronger.

One phrase he often shared with his players was to never let others take away their power. To Coach Bud, that meant believing in yourself, working hard, treating others with respect, and always doing your very best.

His legacy isn't measured only by championships and trophies. It lives on in the thousands of lives he has inspired, the students whose worlds became bigger because of his encouragement, and the generations of athletes who still proudly call him "Coach."

Thank you, Coach Bud, for showing us that the greatest victories happen both on and off the court.💚
