We're excited to welcome urology services to Grinnell beginning June 29!

Board-certified urologists Dr. Gregory Larsen and Dr. Trevor Wild from Urology Center of Iowa will provide care every Monday at the UnityPoint Health – Grinnell General Surgery and Weight Loss Surgery Clinic. Patients can receive expert care for kidney stones, prostate concerns, urinary issues, men's health conditions, vasectomy procedures and more.

Dr. Larsen was drawn to urology because of the opportunity to combine medical and surgical care while building strong relationships with patients. Before moving to Iowa, he practiced urology for 10 years in New Orleans. Outside of work, he enjoys cycling and baking sourdough bread. He and his wife share their home with their adorable cat and two rescue dogs.

For Dr. Wild, caring for patients in Iowa is a homecoming. Born and raised in Des Moines, he returned to Iowa after completing his residency in Colorado and is excited to raise his family in the state he calls home. When he's not caring for patients, he enjoys spending time outdoors, supporting the performing arts, cheering on the Hawkeyes and attending his children's activities.

Our labor and delivery unit is under construction to renovate patient rooms, the nursery and nurses' station, and add an additional labor, delivery, recovery and postpartum room. These are wonderful updates for the unit! But with construction comes moments of noise.

A recent expecting patient was concerned about the construction noise being disruptive for her upcoming delivery and decided to visit a different delivery department - but she soon came back! She shared that she only wanted to deliver at GRMC because we provide the best care that makes her feel like a person, and not a number! She let us know that she and baby had a wonderful experience here!

Our volunteer program is BACK!

“Volunteers are often one of the first friendly faces guests encounter when entering the hospital,” said Laura Valencia, GRMC volunteer coordinator. “They help patients and families feel comfortable and cared for while strengthening connections within our community.”

Volunteer opportunities include greeting and directing visitors, escorting guests, assisting with wheelchairs and supporting hospital teams with non-clinical tasks. Flexible shifts are available for students, senior citizens and community members looking to give back.
