LESS ADDED SUGAR, BETTER HEALTH
The image exaggerates by saying sugar directly “becomes” individual diseases. The more accurate message is:
🩸 Regularly consuming excessive added sugar can contribute to weight gain and increase type 2 diabetes risk.
🦷 Oral bacteria use sugar to produce acids that damage enamel and contribute to cavities.
🫀 High added-sugar intake can contribute to unhealthy triglyceride levels and greater cardiovascular risk.
🧠 Sugar does not simply become dementia, although diabetes and poor metabolic health are associated with a higher risk of cognitive decline.
🫁 Sugar does not directly turn into inflammation in every organ, but a consistently poor diet may promote weight gain and metabolic inflammation.
🍎 You do not need to eliminate naturally occurring sugar from whole fruit, vegetables or unsweetened dairy. The main target is added sugar from soda, sweets, sweetened coffee, desserts and heavily processed foods.
Reduce added sugar—not all carbohydrates. Choose whole foods, fiber and balanced portions.
