Billy “Bill” Joe Beamer of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Aside from a few years spent in small Kansas towns, Bill made his home in Grove for the majority of his life.

As a child, Bill loved playing baseball, fishing, and camping. He often reminisced about watching his cousins chase wolves just to hear them howl. As he grew older, he developed a passion for skiing and proudly bought his own boat. True to his unique style, Bill always skied in his jeans—never swim trunks or shorts.

Bill worked at the local co-op in Manter, Kansas, for 15 years before returning to Grove. Once back home, he spent many years working alongside his son at Baker’s Auto Body, restoring and repairing cars until his retirement. One of his greatest points of pride was his beautifully refurbished 1967 Pontiac GTO, restored to look as though it had just rolled off the showroom floor. He enjoyed taking his GTO to car shows, where it won multiple trophies and became a favorite among classic-car enthusiasts.

Bill was also, without question, one of the biggest OU Sooner fans anyone ever met. He followed Oklahoma College football and women’s softball with unmatched enthusiasm, cheering on his Sooners every chance he got.

Bill is preceded in death by his son, Clinton W. Beamer; Granddaughters Amber D. Beamer and Samantha J. DeLaMatter; Sister E. Lois Bishop; Mother Neoma W. Benge; Grandparents Oliver Beamer and Emma B. Beamer.

Bill is survived by his wife, Virgie Beamer of Grove; Daughters Susan E. Beamer and E. Lois Beamer of Grove, and Trish Beamer Nix of Phoenix, Arizona; Son D. DeWayne Beamer of Tennessee; and stepsons Terry and Jeff Luker of Grove. He is also survived by his sister, Wahleah Benge of Grove, and his cousin, John Burris of Oklahoma City, OK.; 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren; extended family and friends.

He will be remembered for his love of anything concerning the OU Sooners, Elvis Presley, and his beloved GTO.

Bill's Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Monday, 2:00pm, June 1, 2026 at Fairland First Baptist Church, 407 W. Conner Ave., Fairland, OK 74343.

Grant Aaron Parker, age 33, of Siloam Springs, AR, passed away on Monday, May 25, 2026 in Colcord, OK. He was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to his parents, Russell (Rusty) Gordon Parker and Leighandria (Leigh) Dicus Parker.

Grant graduated from Nixa High School, Nixa, MO. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and anything outdoors.

Grant is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents, Eric and Nancy Dicus of Hot Springs, AR; Paternal Grandparent, Al Parker of Bryant, AR; Aunt, Kara LaFluer of Bryant, AR and his cousin Amy Miller of North Carolina.

Grant is survived by his parents, Rusty and Leigh Parker of Colcord, OK; Daughter, Raylie Marie Parker of Ottawa, TX; Brother, Austin Parker and wife Tiffany, and their sons Barrett Parker, Blake Hough and Preston Crowe of Siloam Springs, AR; Grandmother, Judy Parker of Bryant, AR; Aunt, Kellie Best and husband Brent, and their daughter Bailey of Frisco, TX; Aunt, Kristie Graham and husband Steve, and their son Reese of Bryant, AR; Uncle, Jason Dicus of Arkadelphia, AR; Cousin, David Edwards of North Carolina; and Grant’s Ex-Wife and mother of his daughter, Lindsey Kuhel of Ottawa, TX; A host of extended family and friends.

It took us a few weeks to make this move for our centralized business office. It was a long time coming and stressful while not missing a beat servicing our families. Very proud of my staff for hanging in there on those tough emotional and stressful days…Very proud of my staff too, moving those 2 heavy desks onto my trailer and getting everything organized in a short timely manner. The Jay Funeral Home looks amazing with my new arrangement room/my office❣️The former arrangement room is now Deirjaye and Melissa’s office, then Twila and Bri are in the other office. Then ALL my files from my grandpa Frenchie’s Red Books back in the 60’s, then dad and mom files, and up until now are all at Jay now….So no more going back and forth looking for files. Our business office operations are spot on. My ladies have their own primary duties and when they have down time then they help others. Team Work! My Jay location is much bigger than my Grove location. Now my Grove location when you walk in has more open space and will have a new seating/gathering area where the ladies desks were. No more seeing all our business operations right in front of you when you walk in! I am also turning the other room by the bathrooms into a charging area for everyone that may need to charge their phones or just gather and digress while their phones are charging….Eventually, I will move the arrangement room/my office to the selection room like I did at my Jay location. Then that will give me another open space for my families during visitations and funerals….So excited for these changes. We are growing leaps and bound every year and we appreciate our families and thank each and everyone of them for selecting our services at the time of the loss of their loved ones and to the families that pre-arrange their funeral services with us in advance. We also prearrange services even when you have your own life insurance policy too. Families can also have us as their beneficiary with their life insurance and you will still have your family or friend as beneficiaries too, while if anything ever happened and you would need DHS assistants or going to a nursing home, then your insurance policy is not an asset toward your finances or assistants with Government Agencies. As for Government employees and Teachers with their insurance policies through their employment. You can have the funeral home as your beneficiary too and you will receive the full amount toward your services. If not, then the insurance company keeps a 1000.00 of your policy for taxes. Probably around fall I will have a Grand Opening through the Jay and Grove Chambers, since I have never done that, and that gives everyone a chance to come in and see our new and improved changes for our families at both locations. We will have entertainment with food and myself and my staff to answer any questions you may have about the Funeral Industry and our services we provide. My staff and my locations are getting stronger and growing day by day. Like I tell people, I am not going anywhere or even retire when I reach retirement (still have many years before that age comes around😂) from this Industry. And I will be at my locations until the day the good Lord calls me to my Heavenly Home🥰😇❣️The funeral business is in my DNA, and I love what I do. Yes there have been times I have burned myself out in my younger years when I worked at very large funeral home locations. I have served many families since I graduated from Mortuary School in 1993….I have so many decades of experience taking care of just about every religion you can think of and that is including atheists too…I have also taken care of original true Gyspsy’s (that was very interesting) and the Bloods Gang from California(that was hands down scary and interesting at the same time) especially when there was retaliation involved from the person that passed away! I have also taken care of many Biker Gangs too. So all in all, I have so much experience and very well rounded in the Funeral Industry going on being a licensed Funeral Director and Embalmer for 33 years now, and that’s not including years of my experience being raised in the Funeral Industry. My heart and soul is 100% invested in my funeral homes and in this Industry. I do my best to service our families and my staff does as well…Each day we learn and we strive to be better each and every day….As a 3rd Generation Owner/ Funeral Director/Embalmer I am PROUD to continue on The Lawson’s Legacy of servicing our communities and surrounding communities….We are a full service funeral home and also provide selecting monuments, maintenance on prior monuments such as cleaning, re-engraving, or adjustments too….So with our Centralized Business Office move from Grove to Jay is the best move I have made. My mom always told me I should have done it a long time ago, but it’s all in God’s timing and we have outgrown our offices in Grove and that is a good thing….Now my staff are not on top of each other and they have their own space and I myself have 2 offices now🥰❣️…So yes, I will always be at both of the locations (not at the same time of course) but it will be nice to have my own desk at both locations now…and in the same room as the arrangement rooms with our families…and our families have a much bigger room and more of their families can be seated comfortably too❣️ So I thank you all for taking this ride with me in my lifetime career, that I love so much🥰….and thank you to our families that we have been taking care of through our move and adjustments….Thank you to my staff from the bottom of my heart for jumping in and getting this done without missing a beat with our families….It’s been challenging, but we made it…We just have a few minor things internally to finish up….and will have everything done by the end of this month….With our continued growth servicing our families, eventually we will have some more exciting news to share with you all too in the near future…Anything I do to improve the funeral homes, I will keep you all informed with our new and improved updates❣️❣️Each year we will be doing something to keep up with our continued growth….Again, thank you to all our families we have served, our pre-arrangement families being proactive to make their arrangements going into the future. Update on the Grove & Jay Funeral Home Locations.

As of today its official we have moved our Grove business office to the Jay location. What that means is that we switched our business offices to the other location. Deirjaye, Melissa, Twila and Bri are now at our business office in Jay from 9:00am to 5:00pm, unless we have evening visitations or funeral services. As of right now, our Grove location has a sign on the door stating we are at the Jay location today and are availble 24/7 or contact us to meet immediately. Soon we will have the Grove location fully staffed where someone will be on the premises everyday from Monday- Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm, unless we have visitations or funeral services. Ms. Shaunda J Lawson, Owner/Funeral Director, will be at both Jay and Grove funeral home locations. Wilma Jean Sanders, 87, of Grove, OK, passed away on May 19, 2026. A beloved mother, caregiver, and friend of many. She was born on April 29, 1939, in Maysville, Arkansas to Lon and Maragret Hendren.

Wilma was a testament to love, laughter and dedication to all that knew her. Her greatest passion was the love she shared of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Wilma graduated from Jay, Oklahoma and married the love of her life, Ross, on January 8, 1960. They spent 47 years together side by side farming, raising a family and serving the Lord. They were very active in the Dodge Baptist Church and were loved and cherished members of the Dodge community.

Wilma worked at the Grove Hospital for many years and continued her employment with the Honey Creek Retirement Village until this year. She was always known as a compassionate caregiver to everyone around her and worked as a volunteer with hospice. She assisted those around her daily life and was cherished by so many that encountered her.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, Lon and Maragaret Hendren; and her husband Ross Sanders.

Left to cherish Wilma’s memory are her sons: Randy (Lisa) Sanders, Lonnie (Jennifer) Sanders, Jimmy (Molly) Sanders, and daughter June Galloway; her grandchildren, Jessica (Austin) Dartez, Mallory (Sol) Kim, Amanda (Kate) Sanders, Emily Sanders, Justin (Kendall) Sanders, and Tera Sanders; Great Grandchildren, Desmond Call, Jack Call, George Kim, and Declan Sanders; Her brothers and sisters, Melba Squyres, Leroy (Virginia) Hendren, Larry (Susie) Hendren, and Rosetta (Steve) Selby; A host of extended family and friends.

Donald (Don) Ray Ward, age 91, went to his heavenly home on Monday, May 18, 2026 in Grove, OK. Don was born on February 5, 1935 in Fort Sam Houston, TX to Chauncey Wyatt Ward and Geraldine Yerkines.

Don was born at Ft Sam Houston, a United States Army Post in Texas which was near San Antonio. The family then moved to southern Illinois near the Wabash River. From Illinois they went to western Pennsylvania where his mother had been born and raised. His Grandmother had 14 siblings. In Pennsylvania he had an Uncle Walt who owned a Jersey Dairy farm. Don was put to work at age 7 delivering eggs and shoveling hay from the barn for $3.00 a week.

At age 13 the family moved to Tulsa, OK where he attended Webster High School. His Dad purchased a filling station and Don worked there. He fondly remembers washing windshields, filling the tanks and handing out Green Stamps.

He graduated from high school at age 17 and the same year married his wife Betty Ann Fairlie. They were married for 68 years until her passing in 2020.

Don attended Tulsa University as a young adult until the demand of raising his 3 children with Betty required most of his attention. Don's career was in Manufacturing, Machining, and Sales and Supplies. His proudest accomplishment was G-W manufacturing in Tulsa. G-W employed 65 people. Their accounts were Westinghouse, Chevrolet, Gardner Denver, Dowell and National. His career finish line was at Zebco in Broken Arrow.

During his life Don was a Sports fan like no other. He started out as a young adult catching for a Fast Pitch Softball Church Leagues as well as Phillips Petroleum. Next he spent years bowling on traveling leagues and won several tournaments and boasted an average of 198. Then came Golf and from that time nothing could compete with his love of Golf. He was a member of Cedar Ridge and Tulsa Country Club. Golf took him to many courses and he managed a handicap of 6, and during the winter months would manage to travel and play in Palm Springs and Phoenix. He also greatly enjoyed fishing and racquetball. Don and Betty were football season ticket holders in Norman at the University of Oklahoma. They traveled with friends and family often to away games. His very favorites were the OU girls softball team, the St Louis Cardinals baseball team and a Sooner born Sooner Bred diehard forever.

Don and Betty chose to travel much in the late 70's and early 80's. They visited Hawaii, Bahamas, St Martin, Cancun, Acapulco and Jamaica. However, nothing before or since made his life more satisfying and complete as September 23rd, 1958 when he gave his life to the Lord. The family moved from Tulsa to Broken Arrow in 1973 where he and Betty belonged to First Baptist Church. Don was a deacon and Betty was a teacher where they served for 50 years. Don was President of FOCAS (Fellowship of Christian Anglers Society). The society's main objective was to be witnesses for Christ from the fishing industry, with his narrative of how Fish are attracted to light as we are to Christ. Don and Betty moved to Baptist Village in Grove, OK, August of 2015 in need of assistance from friends and family nearby. Don spent his last 16 months of his life at Grove Nursing Center where he continued displaying God's Grace, attending their Bible service and making sure he never missed an opportunity to display God's love and to play Bingo with the intent only to say the word Bingo! Don was a competitor like no other until the very end of his life. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

Don is preceded in death by his parents, Chauncy and Geraldine; Wife, Betty Ann Ward; Brothers, CW Ward and Keith Ward; Sisters, Sandy Tybert and Charlene Fitzgerald.

Don is survived by his children, Kathy Ward Sherrill, Julie Ward Will and Brian Ward; Grandchildren, Angela Sherrill Rupe, Tiffney Sherrill Whisenhunt, Ian Zachary Will, Aaron Quinn Will, Emma Ward, Sophie Ward, Caleb Ward, Ella Ward, Julian Ward, Gabriel Ward and Michael Ward; Great Grandchildren, Alyxandria Rupe, Taylor Rupe, Kara Whisenhunt and Curtis Whisenhunt; Brothers Gerald and Mike Ward; along with a host of extended family and friends.

James William Anderson Sr. (Wooly)

March 2, 1958 – May 5, 2026

James William Anderson, Sr., known to everyone as “Wooly,” “Uncle Wooly,” or simply “Dad,” passed away at his home in Jay, Oklahoma, on May 5, 2026. Born In Grove, OK to Thomas Edgar Anderson and Zelma Zeffie Black.

James was a straight shooter who lived life on his own terms and told the truth exactly as he saw it. A gifted “shade-tree” mechanic, carpenter, and tinkerer, James worked for Hodson Brothers loading turkeys for over 20 years. He was a man of legendary stubbornness, a trait that famously cost him his leg but never his spirit. In his younger years, he lived for the thrill of riding motorcycles and drag racing, but he found his greatest peace in the quiet. Some of our favorite memories happened on the porch under the nighttime sky with long talks and watching the stars. He wasn’t a perfect man, but he was a man who could pick his grown children up and hold them in his arms, making them feel as safe as they did when they were small.

Dad often shared his own brand of wisdom: that mistakes are just lessons we carry with us, and that a first love; especially the love for your children, is forever. He was the kind of father who was always there when you needed him, teaching his kids to read, write, and tie their shoes in a single afternoon.

His legacy is carried on by his children: Janie Anderson Wieland and husband Chris Wieland of Miami, OK, James Anderson, Jr. and wife Char of Jay, OK, Chaunzee Anderson of Jay, OK and Jennifer Blevins Cunningham and husband Brent of Eucha, OK, whom he loved as his own. The “Anderson girls” are certainly taking over, as James was a proud grandfather to 23 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sisters, Wanda Keith, Reba Handle, Pattie Beck, Sheri Beck and Elizabeth “Liz” Brown; his loyal friend and neighbor, Robert Turnbull; and a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Zelma Black; his brother, Tommy Anderson; his sister, Glenda Temple; his grandson, Nick White; and his granddaughter, Rachel Tymprance Jane.

We will carry the guilt of him being alone at the end, but we take comfort knowing he was exactly where he wanted to be, at home. We find peace in knowing he has finally found his.

Betty Louise Black- Woods, age 82, of Jay, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Jay, Oklahoma. Betty was a lifelong resident of Maysville, Arkansas where she was born on May 15, 1943 and where she passed away at home with family by her side.

She was the daughter of Elmer (Red) Black and Ina (Walker) Black.

On March 3, 1961, she married the love of her life, Bobby Woods. Together, they built a strong and loving family over the course of 64 years of marriage. Betty was a hard worker and worked for several years at Peterson Farms and Simmons Foods before being hired at Franklin Electric, where she retired after 27 years. Betty was a wonderful mom, wife, nanny, friend and she loved her family. One of her greatest joys came from going to her kids, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s activities whenever she was able. She took great pride in their successes and was their biggest cheerleader. Betty had a wonderful sense of humor, and she wasn’t above pulling a prank or two. She could be a little sassy and feisty at times, but that was part of her charm. Betty enjoyed dancing, bowling, watching game shows, going to the casino and she was a huge sports enthusiast. She was a big Razorback fan and liked nothing better than a good debate with a Sooner fan. Betty will be remembered for her humor, loyalty, and laughter, she may be gone, but the memories she left behind will live in our hearts forever. Betty and Bobby are dancing together once again and may they never miss a step.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband Bobby Woods; Parents, Elmer (Red) and Ina Black; Sisters, Fern Haines, Sylvia Tucker, Leona Hobdy and Jean Martindale; and her brothers, James Black and Earl Black.

Betty is survived by her children, Randy Woods and wife Pam, Debbie Scraper and husband Fox, and Bobbie Gayle Woods. She also leaves behind 7 cherished grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren (and one on the way), who brought her great pride and pleasure. She is also survived by her sister, Muriel Collins; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Betty’s life was full of hard work, dedication, loyalty, laughter and love. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Rita Faye Rutherford, age 69, of Jay, Oklahoma, went to her heavenly home on Friday, May 1, 2026, in Jay, Oklahoma. She was born on August 19,1956 in Claremore, OK to her parents Jack Foreman and Ruby Geraldean Potter-Foreman.

Rita worked at Simmons in Southwest City, MO, then worked at Jacobs Fiberglass Plant for several years before becoming a personal Caregiver for several years before retiring. She enjoyed getting together with family for holidays and family functions. Rita will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents Jack and Geraldean Foreman; Son, Joe Rutherford; Brothers, Wylie Foreman, Jackie Foreman, and Marvin Foreman; Sisters, Norma Asher and Bernice Foreman.

James Earl Turnbull of Jay, OK, passed from this life on April 29, 2026 at the age of 93. He was born on September 21, 1932 to George Turnbull and Millie Coates Turnbull in Boggy Depot, OK.

James joined the Oklahoma National Guard. He served with the 45th infantry division during the Korea conflict as a machine gunner on a half track on the front lines. Sept 1, 1950 – July 17, 1952.

Later on in life he moved to Dodge City, KS and worked for the Highway Dept. also he worked for the water dept.

James worked for Petterson’s in Decatur, driving a feed truck. He also worked on a farm at Turkey Ridge. James retired from Petterson’s when he was 62.

He was known for enjoying time with his friends and he was an exceptional pool player. He enjoyed buying and selling cars. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Loved being outside working, planting his garden, mowing his yard, cutting brush, building fence, and taking care of his chickens. James liked to stay busy.

His grandchildren remember him from his abilities to tell detailed and interesting stories from the past. He will be missed dearly by his family and friends.

James is preceded in death by his parents George and Millie Turnbull; two brothers and three sisters.

James is survived by his three children, Robert Turnbull and Bobbie of Jay, OK, Jamee Page and husband Leon of Eucha, OK, and Marsha Fields and husband Larry of Jay, OK; 2 brothers, Richard Mason and wife Leatta of Brownsburg, IN and Larry Mason and wife Dina of Eglin, SC; Two sisters, Faye Brockman of Red Bluff, CA and Dottie McMaine of Lugoff, SC; 4 grandsons, Shawn Turnbull and Mollie of Colcord, OK, Roger Page of Caldwell, ID, Nathan Page of Eucha, OK, BoShane Turnbull and wife Cheyenne of Colcord, OK; 3 granddaughters, Sabra Esparza and husband Carlos of Carlin, NV, Christy Doyle and husband Larry of Papua New Guinea, and Tricia Fields of Jay, OK; 13 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; Nephews, Nieces and his longtime companion Margie Morden of Jay, OK; extended family and friends.

James’s Celebration of Life Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, 2:00pm, May 6, 2026 at Mount Hermon Cemetery, 42040 S 670 Rd, Jay, OK 74346.

James’s service will conclude at the graveside.

James’s burial will be at Mount Hermon Cemetery, Jay, OK.

Arrangements are entrusted to Lawson’s Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 311 W. Gray St., Jay, OK 74346 with Shaunda J. Lawson, 3rd Generation Owner/Funeral Director and Staff.
