As we begin to see cases of the flu and strep throat, now is the perfect time to know the signs and seek care early if you become sick.

🤧 Flu symptoms often include:
✔️ Fever or chills
✔️ Body aches
✔️ Fatigue
✔️ Headache
✔️ Cough
✔️ Runny or stuffy nose
✔️ Sore throat

😷 Strep throat symptoms often include:
✔️ Sudden, severe sore throat
✔️ Pain when swallowing
✔️ Fever
✔️ Swollen lymph nodes
✔️ Red, swollen tonsils (sometimes with white patches)
✔️ Usually no cough

While some symptoms can overlap, getting tested can help determine the cause and ensure you receive the appropriate treatment.

A red, itchy bump isn’t always just a bug bite. While many insect bites heal on their own, some can become infected—or what looks like a bug bite may actually be a skin infection.

🦟 It may be a bug bite if you notice:
✔️ Itching is the main symptom
✔️ A small, raised bump
✔️ Mild redness or swelling
✔️ Symptoms improve over a few days

🩹 It may be a skin infection if you notice:
⚠️ Redness that continues to spread
⚠️ Increasing pain or tenderness
⚠️ Warmth around the area
⚠️ Pus or drainage
⚠️ Fever or chills
⚠️ Swelling that gets worse instead of better

❗ If a bug bite becomes increasingly red, painful, warm, or begins draining, it could be infected and should be evaluated by a healthcare provider.

Don’t wait if you’re concerned. Early treatment can help prevent the infection from becoming more serious.

Sprain vs. Fracture: How Can You Tell the Difference?

A fall, twist, or sports injury can leave you wondering—is it just a sprain, or could it be a fracture? While the symptoms can be similar, there are a few key differences.

A Sprain (injury to a ligament) may cause:
✔️ Pain around a joint
✔️ Swelling
✔️ Bruising
✔️ Difficulty moving the joint
✔️ Pain that may improve with rest, ice, compression, and elevation

🦴 A Fracture (broken bone) may cause:
✔️ Severe pain
✔️ Significant swelling or bruising
✔️ Difficulty or inability to bear weight or use the affected limb
✔️ A visible deformity or bone that appears out of place
✔️ A popping or cracking sound at the time of injury

⚠️ It isn’t always possible to tell the difference without a medical evaluation. If you have severe pain, significant swelling, can’t bear weight, notice a deformity, or your symptoms aren’t improving, it’s important to be evaluated by a healthcare provider.
