A little surgical education + a little Vegas fun. ✨

This past weekend I traveled to Las Vegas to learn about breast neurotization and restoring sensation after mastectomy. Rather than accepting post-mastectomy numbness as an inevitable part of breast reconstruction, sensory nerves can be identified and connected to the skin using axogen nerve grafts, with the goal of restoring protective and potentially meaningful sensation to the reconstructed breast.

I was fortunate to learn alongside Singing River Health System breast surgeon Dr. John Bailey and our local Axogen representative, Mackie Gallagher, during a full day of surgical education focused on advances in nerve preservation and reconstruction.

As plastic surgeons, we spend so much time thinking about how a breast looks after reconstruction. I’m excited about expanding our focus to how it feels, too. 🩷

And because this was Vegas… after a full day of learning, my husband and I headed to the Sphere to see the Backstreet Boys! 🎶✨

A great day out on the Wolf River 🛶🌿☀️

Kayaking, canoeing, lots of laughs, and good company. It’s always nice to step away from the busy schedule for a day and enjoy some time outside with the people who make life fun. 💚

Today was one for the books. 🥳🎉

I feel incredibly grateful to celebrate another birthday surrounded by such an amazing team. My wonderful staff at SRHS completely surprised me with the sweetest celebration, and they truly made me feel so loved and appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who helped make today so special. I’m lucky to work alongside people who care not only about our patients, but also about each other. Here’s to another year of growth, gratitude, and making a difference together. 💙🎂
