I’m overjoyed to share that Risen Birth Services was voted a Top 5 Doula in the OKC Mom’s Choice Awards . In 2023, the Lord placed an undeniable calling on my heart. One that felt both sacred and a little scary. I said yes anyway, never imagining where that yes would lead. ☀️

To every family who has welcomed me into some of the most tender, holy, vulnerable moments of your lives, thank you. It is the greatest honor to walk beside you. You have changed me for the better. 💛

And to my village, thank you for carrying me, cheering me on, covering me in prayer, and making this work possible because birth work was never meant to be done alone. I’m also deeply proud to be included on this list alongside so many incredible women doing beautiful, meaningful work for families in our community. 🌻

I use to joke that I had girl bossed too close to the sun but sometimes setbacks are just God’s set ups. It gets better. ☀️🫶🏻

We launched this dream less than 30 days ago, and today, we delivered 364 books to the Oklahoma Children's Hospital OU Health NICU. I got a little teary-eyed imaging those first parents picking out a story to read to their sweet baby. 🫶🏻

This is actually the opposite of what I want. 🫣

A doula doesn’t replace your partner. I cannot and I should not. Your partner is one of the most important people in the room.

My job is to support both of you so we can work together as a team.

Partners, I promise I’ll learn your name because I want you involved every step of the way from prenatals to postpartum. 💛

Your doctor and nurses care for the medical side. Your doula cares for you.

You don’t have to choose between holistic and modern care.

You can labor intuitively, move freely, keep the lights low, protect your space… and still have access to medical support if it’s needed.

It’s physiological birth in a hospital setting is possible with the right preparation and support. It’s knowing how to create a calm, sacred atmosphere while confidently navigating the system.
