🧯 WHAT SHOULD BE THE DISTANCE BETWEEN TWO FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AT A SITE? 🧯

Many safety professionals know that fire extinguishers are required, but do you know the maximum travel distance allowed under the NFPA 10 Standard?

According to NFPA 10 (Portable Fire Extinguishers):

✅ The maximum travel distance to reach a portable fire extinguisher for Class A fire hazards should not exceed **75 feet (22.9 meters)**.

This means that from any point within the workplace, a person should be able to reach a fire extinguisher within 75 feet of normal travel distance.

📌 Important Considerations:

✅ Measure along the actual path of travel
✅ Consider walls, partitions, equipment, and obstacles
✅ Keep extinguishers visible and easily accessible
✅ Ensure emergency exits remain unobstructed
✅ Install sufficient extinguishers based on hazard classification
✅ Conduct regular inspections and maintenance

⚠️ Remember:

The distance is measured by the path a person must walk, not a straight line.

A fire extinguisher hidden behind equipment or blocked by materials may not be accessible during an emergency.
