Happy Wellness Wednesday Peeps!

Our s*xual health is a part of our overall wellbeing and educating ourselves on how to prevent STIs and STDs is essential. Know your status!!

Let’s be clear: Just because women are LESS likely to transmit HIV doesn’t mean that they can’t. Not only does it come down to anatomy but other factors such as frequent s*x, untreated STIs or having a higher viral load also matter.

But when someone takes their HIV medication consistently they will have an undetectable viral load and cannot transmit HIV to their partner. U=U.

So please get tested, use condoms, and consider PrEP as an option to prevent HIV. 🤎

Repost from AIDS Healthcare Foundation™️

We’ve made extraordinary progress in the fight against HIV.

New HIV infections and AIDS-related deaths are at their lowest levels in decades. Today’s prevention tools are more effective than ever. People living with HIV who have access to treatment can live long, healthy lives, and treatment prevents transmission.

That’s what science has made possible.

But science alone won’t end HIV.

Millions of people still don’t have access to the prevention, treatment, and care they need. Funding cuts, unequal access, and political decisions threaten decades of progress.

Ending HIV isn’t about whether it’s possible anymore.

It’s about whether we choose to finish the job.

Repost from Tamika K. Cross, MD, FACOG

The HIV epidemic isn’t over…and where you live can influence your risk.

These are the 10 U.S. metropolitan areas with the highest rates of NEW HIV diagnoses, according to the CDC. While anyone can acquire HIV, the burden continues to disproportionately affect communities in the South.

The good news? HIV is preventable.

✔️ Get tested regularly.
✔️ Know your status.
✔️ Talk to your healthcare provider about PrEP, which can reduce the risk of getting HIV through s*x by about 99% when taken as prescribed.
✔️ If you are living with HIV, effective treatment can help you live a long, healthy life and prevent transmission to your partners.

Knowledge saves lives. Let’s normalize conversations about s*xual health, reduce stigma, and empower our communities with facts and not fear.
