The Children's Doctor was founded in 1969 when Dr. Albert Strauss came from California, where he had been serving in the United States Air Force, to join Dr. Ronald Keyser who was a solo pediatric practitioner in Hagerstown at that time. In 1977, Dr. Michael Nemir joined Keyser and Strauss and not long after that, Dr. Jennifer Murphy joined them. Over the next many years, quite a few doctors and n
urse practitioners moved in and out of the practice, some to start their own practices and some whose family situation changed causing them to have to leave town or the state. Dr. Keyser retired on December 31, 1999. Dr. Strauss was the only original member of the practice until he retired in November, 2013. The practice now consists of three doctors, Drs. Saqib Masood, Vandana Sajankila, and Bethany Garnand-Proctor. Three nurse practitioners, Vanessa Geyer, Rachel Hassan, and Gwendolyn Lattie and one physician assistant, Yusra Ahmed. The practice, as founded by Keyser and Strauss, and as presently owned by Drs. Masood and Sajankila, will be 45 years old as of September first, 2014.
