-A mother awake at 3:00 a.m., wondering why she doesn’t feel like herself.
-A father quietly struggling because no one has asked how he is doing.
-A partner trying to hold everything together.
-A family that needs support—not shame.

Perinatal Mental Health Disorders are the #1 complication of childbearing.

💙 1 in 10 dads

Approximately 800,000 people in the United States are affected each year by perinatal mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, OCD, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and PTSD.

And these experiences are not distributed equally. Rates are even higher among q***r families, families of color, and low-income families—many of whom also face greater barriers to being heard, believed, and connected with appropriate care.

These aren’t just numbers. They are parents, partners, babies, and entire families. They are people in our neighborhoods, workplaces, schools, and communities—and they deserve to know that they are not alone, they are not to blame, and help is available.

This September, we’re coming together for Frederick’s first PSI Climb to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support families affected by perinatal mental health disorders.

Parenthood is a profound transition for anyone, but LGBTQ+ parents often navigate unique stressors alongside the joys of raising children.

From fertility journeys, adoption processes, and pregnancy experiences, to concerns about acceptance, legal protections, family relationships, and feeling seen within healthcare systems—these experiences can have a significant impact on mental health.
