Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps is a not-for-profit, community-based provider of Advanced Life Support pre-hospital care and transport to the Towns of Clifton Park and Halfmoon and the City of Mechanicville, NY. In addition to pre-hospital care and transport, Clifton Park & Halfmoon Emergency Corps is a certified American Heart Association Training Center providing various levels of training for healthcare providers and the public.

🚨 Air Quality Alert Due to Wildfire Smoke 🚨

An Air Quality Alert is in effect for our area due to smoke from ongoing wildfires. Wildfire smoke contains fine particles that can affect everyone’s health, especially children, older adults, pregnant individuals, and people with asthma, COPD, heart disease, or other respiratory conditions.

To reduce your exposure:
• Limit time outdoors, especially strenuous activities.
• Keep windows and doors closed when possible.
• Run your air conditioning on the recirculate setting if available.
• If you must be outdoors for an extended period, consider wearing a well-fitting N95 mask.
• Watch for symptoms such as coughing, sore throat, eye irritation, wheezing, or shortness of breath.

Stay informed by monitoring local weather and air quality updates. If you experience severe difficulty breathing or another medical emergency, call 911.

Today is National Tape Measure Day! This commemorates the day in 1868 that a man from Connecticut was issued a patent for the spring-loaded retractable measuring device we use today.

CPHM EMS uses tape measures in various ways. We carry a standard tape measure in our ventilator kit to measure a patient's height, as the amount of air programmed to be delivered by the ventilator is height-dependent.

We also utilize a length-based "tape measure" reference tool for pediatric patients. This is placed next to a patient, and provides a quick way to calculate medication dosages and other critical information used to treat our youngest of patients during emergency treatment.
