We’re continuing to build momentum at The Anchor Within Counseling & Wellness Center.

We are now credentialed with several major insurance providers and are actively accepting those who wish to be added to our wait list. Additional contracts are still in progress, and we expect to be fully credentialed in the near future. If you’ve been considering getting started, don’t wait—reach out and we’ll help you navigate your options.

As we grow, we’re also preparing to expand our team this summer. We’re looking to connect with clinicians who are interested in being part of a collaborative, mission-driven practice focused on meaningful work.

If you’re seeking services or interested in joining our team, send us a message or visit:

May is Mental Health Awareness Month.

Mental health is part of everyday life — how we think, how we feel, how we show up for ourselves and the people around us.

It’s not something that only matters in difficult moments. It’s something worth paying attention to along the way.

This month is a reminder to check in with yourself and with others. A simple conversation, a small reset, or reaching out can go further than you think.

You don’t have to have everything figured out to take a step in the right direction.

March is Brain Injury Awareness Month — a time to learn about brain injuries and their impact. The Concussion Coach app can help Veterans manage symptoms, track progress, and build coping strategies after a brain injury. https://mobile.va.gov/app/concussion-coach

This is Millee.

Millee is our group service dog, trained and handled by one of our co-founders, Lori Kovalski, LMHC.

She may look like she’s just there for pets (and yes, she does accept those), but her role is much bigger than that.

In a therapy setting, Millee helps lower anxiety, ease tension, and create a sense of safety in the room. For some people, especially those who struggle to open up, having a calm, steady presence nearby can make all the difference.

Therapy dogs can help regulate the nervous system, reduce stress, and even make it easier to talk about difficult things. Sometimes, a hand resting on a warm head is enough to help someone stay grounded during a hard conversation.

Millee isn’t just part of the space — she’s part of the support.

We’re lucky to have her. 🐾

"Many situations in life are like going on a hike: the view changes once you start walking.

You don't need all the answers right now. New paths will reveal themselves if you have the courage to get started."

What’s your thing?

We all wear a lot of hats.

The work hat.
The parent hat.
The partner hat.
The “get it done” hat.

And sometimes it’s hard to take them all off and just be you.

That’s why having something that’s just yours matters. Something that lets your shoulders drop and your mind quiet down.

For me, it’s golf. I've been fortunate that golf has brought me to so many different places, created so many different relationships, and just been a place where I can go, and everything else seems to fade away for a few hours.

For others, it might be reading, running, knitting, rucking, or getting outside.

And if you don’t have that thing yet — it’s worth finding one. Even more important, it’s worth putting it on the calendar like it matters. Because it does.

What’s the thing that lets you be you? If you like, drop a comment below and let's hear how many different things there are that can let you be you. ⚓️

This is our waiting room.

It’s quiet. Open.

We’ve been intentional about creating a space that feels calm and welcoming — somewhere you can take a breath before you begin.

Over the coming months, this space will slowly fill with clinicians and people doing meaningful work on themselves. It will also be a place where we host a range of events — from workshops and conversations, group therapy, veteran & first responder meet-ups, and kid-friendly activities — all focused on mental health, growth, and connection.

For now, we’re focused on getting the environment right. Making sure it feels steady, grounded, comfortable, and warm.

If the Sunday scaries are creeping in, you’re not alone.

That anxious feeling about the week ahead doesn’t mean you’re failing or doing something wrong. It usually means your nervous system hasn’t had much time to slow down.

You don’t have to solve the week tonight.

Sometimes the work is just noticing the stress, taking a breath, and giving yourself a little grace before Monday shows up.

If today feels heavy, that’s okay. You’re not the only one.

Saturdays don’t have to be productive to be worthwhile.

Mental health doesn’t improve only in therapy sessions. It improves when we make space — even a small space — to slow down, check in, and breathe a little.

That might mean rest.
Or getting outside (OK, maybe not today).
Or doing absolutely nothing for a bit.

Whatever it looks like today, making time for your mental health still counts.
