"I grew up in Lockport, NY and played D2 soccer at Tiffin University, where I majored in Exercise Science and minored in Psychology. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree, I pursued a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy at Walsh University. While in grad school, I got engaged and adopted two dogs. My husband and I got married last May and we welcomed our first baby girl in March of this year! My favorite things to do are going camping with our families and cheering for Buffalo sports teams with friends."

We are excited to announce our next virtual Learning Network event, "Protection Beyond Prevention: Building a Stronger Response to Lead Poisoning in Early Childhood".

Lead exposure can have lasting effects on children, particularly during the earliest and most critical stages of brain development. But what happens after a child has been exposed? We invite you to join us on August 27th 12:00pm-1:00pm for this conversation about what a strong response to childhood lead poisoning should look like.

We’ll hear from the WNY Environmental Health Center about the medical and developmental impacts of lead exposure, and from LEAD 716 and Lead It Go (Beyond Boundaries: Therapy for Kids) about the direct supports they provide to children and families affected by lead.

"Hi, my name is Tyra! I recently graduated with my master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Buffalo State University. I’m excited to start working in pediatrics this summer. During my graduate coursework, I fell in love with play-based learning. I’m originally from New York City, but I’ve been living in Buffalo for over ten years. In my free time I love to read and tend to my many plants. After taking one pottery class, I plan to make it a hobby this year! I look forward to working with my new clients."

Our team had the best time winding down together at The Practice in Hamburg! A huge thank you to Emily Clark, Occupational Therapist from Beyond Boundaries, for leading us through such an invigorating yoga session.

Between the end-of-year rush and daily hustle, sharing this meaningful meditation was the perfect way to end the school year. Thank you to everyone who joined in on the fun! ☀️🙏
